The amazing grace story As much as this puts great pressure on an author and the book in question I have to say I was not disappointed As far as sequels or three quels go Amazing Grace is a wonderful read which not only lets us have a reunion with a loveable cast of characters but also expands a bit on the reader s view of the world it is set in To date we had only the foggiest glimpses of the military conflict s that are used as a background for the series Here we meet for the first time one of the factions a terrorist organization of bible thumping fanatics based on a backwater planet who were responsible for the virus attack on Nelson Mandela in book 1 They are back with a vengeance The storywhich I don t want to expand on too much because of Spoilers moves at a considerable pace and as danger comes from different sides this time manages to grip the reader in no time This may be my only point of critique that the twists and turns twist and turn a bit much in the final act But far be it from me to complain about a book being thrilling The tone of the book is adult and darker than the previous ones It starts with a severed head and takes it from there mostly thanks to erstwhile doctor turned super villain evil psychiatrist Jeffrey Nestor who is back again hellbent for revenge Like that other famous homicidal doctor of psychiatry who he ALMOST shares a name with he s a formidable and despicable foe a creature of no remorse and no moral restraints whatsoever with a giant superiority complex but without cannibalistic leanings yet The treasure of the book are of course the characters and the dialogue Amazing Grace lives through the dialogue whether it be the medical bantering between Drs Al Fadi and Cech or the conversations between Bud and the Station AI It s funny and witty and very well written I loved a scene in the book where Dr Al Fadi has to undergo a psych evaluation by the new rookie Station Psychiatrist It s a wonderful and believable verbal fencing match between two characters quite adept at holding their own with words. What's so amazing about grace book I love the characters in this series they re quirky and flawed and deeply human even the non human characters like Bud Superhero in residence and my new favourite Plant Thing resident giant alien plant monster At the bottom of it all though the series is the love story of Bud and Grace and their trials and tribulations which is a nice story The medical side of the book is extraordinary as always S. Amazing grace lyrics hymn E Sasaki manages to not only realistically depict the everyday business of a gigantic medical space station but possesses the surgical and scientific background to make the medical problems interesting The medical talk isn t just gibberish it s real medical jargon which gives the book another edge Sasaki manages to pull off walking the line between background and storytelling brilliantly She never gets too technical nor does she sacrifice the medical side to the thrill of the story. Amazing grace contemporary christian music All in all a brilliant book that makes me expectant of further installments of the series should there be any I really want to see the journey continue I m a series nerd so I m dying to know how it all turns out Five stars Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary For the record I received an ARC of Amazing Grace and I promised to do an honest review this is it. Amazing grace zbigniew wodecki All in all a brilliant book that makes me expectant of further installments of the series should there be any I really want to see the journey continue I m a series nerd so I m dying to know how it all turns out Five stars Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary This is the first line of the book The first instant Damian Lamont realized his squad was in a shit storm was when the severed head of Private Manuel Kawaguchi crashed into his faceplate I ve been pondering on how to review Amazing Grace over the past couple of days You may ask why I have clearly added the first line above because I want to share it with you Well get ready for some ramblings The first scene hooked me a dense forest genetically modified space marines fighting for survival and an idea I ve not come across before An armoured suit which puts you into cryo stasis ready for collection should you be mortally wounded Pure genius. Amazing grace pdf free E Sasaki has that down But I found something was off As the scenes progressed I found myself comparing this story to a sit com Something not unlike the medical dramas popularised on television romantic threads included I rolled my eyes Fear not gentle reader. Contemporary christian amazing grace E Sasaki isn t just funny she s hilarious Don t get me wrong this isn t a comedic book it s a drama with humour and the humour is both smart and silly There s even medical jargon written in a way that I could not only understand it but laugh with it You will laugh too you may even cry The characters are both satirical and three dimensional Their dialogue is exaggerated and fun much like the book It has adult themes and some dark elements and Sasaki blends them all masterfully with her humour which in my humble opinion is best when dark and with Plant Thing I d recommend this book on that character alone In closing when you meet someone you can like them or not like them in an instant If you don t like them but they manage to change your mind you will like them than if you liked them off the bat There s science behind that somewhere I remember it from college so it must be true The point is that this is how it was for me I didn t like the book off the bat but by the end of chapter one I d grown to love it Looking at this is book as a satire with strong themes of intolerance and prejudice I find it oddly comforting that it was able to change my initial perception Who knows maybe there s hope for us after all LD Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary I LOVE PLANT THING Amazing Grace continues the astounding thrilling Grace Lord series The saddest part of this series is the author s vision of a future filled with war and terrorism I wish Sasaki would stop killing characters I m fond of fine I wish she d stop killing characters period Except Jeffrey Nestor who like a cockroach or horror movie villain just won t die The thrilling twists and turns in book 3 often forced me to stop reading for fear of what would happen next Book 4 can t be published soon enough Bravo Dr Sasaki. Amazing grace book summary 10 2022 I reread Amazing Grace before reading Saving Grace and although I love this series the named character body count is depressing Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary Amazing Grace by S E Sasaki is the third book in the Grace Lord series. Amazing Grace epubor Set on a huge medical space station The Nelson Mandela it is a glorious romp full of humour larger than life characters a sweet romance and spine chilling adventure with devastating stakes and a high body count Perhaps all significant new personal to the station should be issued with a red shirt though old staff are not immune either Following the aftermath of previous devastating threats to the station things soon spin out of control as old threats take on new deadlier forms As a new reader to the series I had no problem catching up with events If anything the first third of the book dealt with the aftermath of the previous two books in such depth it slowed the pace a bit but once the real action started I was totally hooked My only other quibble would be the frequency that head trauma was used as a convenient knock out device with minimal symptoms of concussion very convenient reawakenings Oh and the failure to tie up a certain nefarious person at a vital point in the plot stretched credibility On the other hand I loved loved the cast of characters from animal adapt soldiers to a massively grown alien plant from sentiment AI an Asimovian Android a walking head and brain downloads and a complex plot full of twists at every turn I particularly enjoyed Plant Thing and Bud I also enjoyed the medical side with cryopods and 3D printed organs and tissues and amazing reconstructive surgeries The tongue in cheek humour was well done reminiscent of Terry Pratchett perhaps. What's so amazing about grace book All in all an enjoyable and entertaining read Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary Amazing Grace (The Grace Lord #3)If you love sci fi you will love the Grace Lord Series This is a book with a lot of layers but they are expertly woven together and never feels too convoluted While Grace Lord and Bud are the main characters Plant Thing and little Bud is the shining star in this book With complex characters it is hard to bring them to life on the page but the author has created a rich and varied cast of characters that are far from static They have so much character that you feel as if you know them fully The pacing is good and the various plots lines all come together very nicely here This is a book that you settle down to get lost in Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary I love this series and can t wait for the next book It was great to see all my favourite characters and some new additions as well I felt that the author really expanded the world she had created in this book and I look forward to exploring it further Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary Interesting Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary LOVE this series Can hardly wait for the next one Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary This is a fantastic series The degree of detail in the world of a medical space station is fascinating with the author exploring the moral and personal issues behind such inventions as genetic engineering AI s a universal war and the fall out on the people involved A bit like MASH in space. Amazing grace book blurb Each book builds on the one before with crazy aliens oddball animal people adaptations and doctors with big personalities The pace is fast and the snippets of humour balance out some of the disturbing scenes with the really bad guy. What's so amazing about grace book The author clearly has experience with emergency medical situations and weaves a skillful tale This series provides much food for thought some laughs and really needs to be twice as long so we can stay longer in this amazing world Science Fiction Fantasy Contemporary.
