I also enjoyed the relationship between Brett and her father though I had wished we saw that develop a bit further The friendship Brett shared with Jude was sweet and i appreciated the diversity featured My only critiques is that i found it to be predictable Paperback A contemporary middle grade narrative with a title that puzzled me at first Unity Club is the monicker given to an extra curricular group of students whose mission statement is compassion and empathy On the surface everyone is able to complete tasks where giving of oneself is fairly straightforward. Unity club mtl the certainness of the members are tested when a teen group home is established in the neighbourhood This is a well crafted story revealing that we should not jump to conclusions because of differences The author has managed to create a flowing narrative that deals with many social issues relevant for teens. Unity club intwararumuri Highly recommended for MiddleGrade readers reluctant or not ARC provided by Orca Book publishers in turn for an honest review Paperback When a group home opens in her neighbourhood.

Unity club falls church va When Karen is not writing she is often reading gardening running skiing or enjoying Edmonton s river valley with her husband her two daughters and her two enormous dogs Karen also enjoys visiting schools and libraries in the Edmonton area where she speaks to students about the inspiration for her stories the creative process and the writing life site_link Unity Club is about accepting everyone and not judging them before you even get to know them This book highlights the fact that just because someone comes from an unordinary home it doesn t mean that something is wrong with them or that you should assume the worst of them People believe we should have places like group homes but place it near them and they quickly change their mind without even giving people a chance which is wrong. Unity clubq stock This is a fast paced quick read like 100 pages in which I enjoyed all of it I liked all the points it highlighted about equality and how we shouldn t judge others before giving them a chance I think that this is something that everyone struggles with and it s not fair to people like Jude who didn t really have a choice in his lot in life I would recommend this book to everyone Paperback Karen Spafford Fitz is brilliant at creating characters with depth This is a short and sweet book that has a nice feel to it The message it gives to middle grade readers and teens is one of acceptance Paperback this arc was provided to me through netgalley all opinions are my own Unity Club was such a refreshing read Although I m not a big middle grade reader this book kept impressed me with the important topics it featured It follows our main character Brett as she juggles to find balance between healing after her mother s departure continuing her life with her boyfriend in another province and being president of her school s Unity Club When a new group home for at risk youth is established in her neighbourhood she witnesses at first hand at how quickly people are to point fingers. Unity clubq This book focuses on integrity and welcoming differences It really highlights the need for acceptance and kindness I liked how well the characters were crafted They had a solid voice and the writing was easy to follow Brett is a witnesses to how a few people s close minded ideas can quickly become acceptable within a community Even when you are president of your school s unity club where helping people is the norm it can be hard to avoid getting swept up in the negativity Quite timely subject matter and will open up a lot of discussion for kids moving into their teen years Paperback I liked the message the book conveyed about not assuming a person is guilty just because of where they come from but to wait until evidence proves it s them I thought it was particularly ironic that the many members of the Unity Club became so judgy since the whole point of their club is to unify All in all this was a nice quick read Paperback Unity Club was better than I expected I actually liked the characters and found the story interesting I liked the ending and how what I wanted to happen did The writing was good and I felt like for the amount of pages the story was well done.
