Book The Alpha's hostage lyrics She also writes adult LGBTQ erotic romance under site_link Laelia West site_link Six years have passed since Rachael Adair last saw her older brother Jackson And for good reason Jackson is now a lycan and since they age slowly he has to move frequently lest the humans catch on When he excitedly calls her and offers a flight for her to visit them in a big city Rachael jumps at the chance She s delighted to see her brother his pack and of course the alpha she fell in love with Aaron Moreno But when she lands in Las Vegas Rachael is kidnapped by a new face from the pack of an old friend her first love Holden Cavanaugh Holden is now the alpha of a group of poly amorous betas and he has every intention of convincing Rachael to join him After killing Aaron of course The Alpha s Hostage Moonlight Wars 1 This book was ok There wasn t anything I disliked about it but it just didn t hold my attention Usually werewolf books capture my attention and then I read the book straight thru The Alpha s Hostage Moonlight Wars 1 There s something about this series that just keeps you reading Rachael s character develops in each book of the series and she s definitely stronger and dynamic in this installment Each book hits you with surprises and characters you hated in the first book you re cheering for in this one Plus its raunchier need i say The Alpha s Hostage Moonlight Wars 1 We first meet Rachael the main protagonist in The Alpha s Hostage as she is breaking up with her loser of course boyfriend at the burlesque club he brought her to We soon discover that Rachael s problems with men aren t confined just to that boyfriend as she is estranged from her brother and most of the other significant people in her life because they are lycans werewolves and she is human But just after the breakup Rachael s brother calls her up from out of the blue to inform her that he s gotten married and that he s arranged for her to come visit him and the rest of the pack including we find out the love of her life the pack Alpha Rachael sets off to the pack s undisclosed location only to be misdirected and SPOILER ALERT end up as the hostage of Holden another Alpha and someone who s had a crush on her for years The rest of the book concerns Rachael s attempts to free herself her captors attempts to win her over or possibly kill her and the other s attempts to rescue her. Book The Alpha's hostage tape The set up of this story is somewhat unusual for a romance type novel in that we spend a lot of time in the heads of Holden and the other members of his pack all of whom are jockeying for his favor and who are using Rachael and each other as a way to gain of his attention and rise in status This adds a lot of complexity and tension to the story and the scenes we see from the points of view of the Betas are some of the best in the book as we find out why these women are acting the way they are and learn to sympathize with them The movement between different POVs makes the story arc much exciting and the final few chapters are a tense read as the various characters come together for the final confrontation The downside of this is that I felt less invested in the good characters particularly Aaron the man whom Rachael loves This is a continuation of an earlier series presumably readers of the earlier books have gotten to know Aaron better and can appreciate him properly as the male lead but I was actually much interested in our antagonist Holden who is a great anti hero The book ends with the suggestion of further action and there is a lot going on here that promises an exciting continuation to the series The Alpha s Hostage Moonlight Wars 1 Sequel to the YA series SECRETS OF THE SEQUOIA Rachael celebrates her 24th birthday with a call from her brother When she s invited to see the pack plans go awry and Holden proves he ll do literally anything to kill Aaron The Alpha s Hostage Moonlight Wars 1
