Snared (Jaded Regret, #2) By L.L. Collins
Will she stick with him when they all come tumbling down What else can I say about this book Other than that it made my eyes hurt Tears were stinging at my eyes from the first few pages and it didn t ease up until I reached the end I cried because my heart was breaking for these characters and their raw emotions I cried because Beau was such a pure and kind soul who suffered so much I cried because April was so perfect for him I cried because there were so many beautiful things said I cried because I was happy and I fucking bawled my eyes out over that ending This book destroyed me It put me back together again It affirmed the existence of goodness in the world It affirmed my faith in love It affirmed that my pitiful existence in this infinite universe is worthwhile Or maybe this book just caught me at exactly the right time of the month I absolutely recommend this beautiful book to anyone with access to a box of tissues and a carton of ice cream and someone to hug afterwards You ll need all three ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review English Okay so this book was freaking phenomenal I m not sure if I can pinpoint which part s I really connected with.
There s always hope and love English Often you read in a book blurb fans of xxx will love this book and sometimes when reading those stories I wonder who came up with those comparisons. So I hesitate a little to give such a recommendation myself but in certain cases like this one I feel the need to give a comparison myself so if you liked Grayson by Lisa Eugene or Real by Katy Evans I am quite confident that you will love this book. To me as a reader it felt like I could understand what was happening Which I think is not an easy feature when you are lucky to say that you have no experience at all with the problems that Beau is going through. I could relate to April when she first came near to Beau He was described with such an intensity that at times I thought I could actually see him in front of me when I closed my eyes. L Collins was born and raised in the eternal summer state of Florida She lives with her high school sweetheart husband and is driven mad daily by her young adult boys but her three doodles keep her sane and well loved LL has been writing since she was old enough to write Always a story in her head she made her lifelong dream of becoming an author come true in the self publishing world She s the author of contemporary romance novels Look for of her emotionally charged novels exclusively on BEAU has never known a good life only the torment that lives inside his head every day The only way to block out the darkness that shrouds him is through the rhythmic beat of his drums Knowing what happens when he opens up to anyone Beau buries his pain deep inside keeping it all to himself APRIL has lived a life of wealth and privilege full of love and support Her only insight into what it s like to have a rough life is through her work with foster children When she meets Beau it starts as a challenge to get through to him but quickly turns into much than either of them bargained for TOGETHER they are mismatched ill fated and COMBUSTIBLE But when their connection is challenged by the collision of past present and future will they be snared by love or circumstances Photographer Marisa rose ShorIllustrator Darren Birks Snared Jaded Regret 2 4 StarsOverall Opinion This book tacked some heavy and tough subjects mental health and foster care It wasn t the type of romance that gives you a toothache but it was sweet in its own way I rooted for this couple and I felt that they had a good connection Plus We got a shy non manwhore rock star He had only been with one woman close to 10 years prior to the story He was intimidated by the h s beauty and I found that really cute and endearing Overall I liked the story. Brief Summary of the Storyline This is April and Beau s story Beau is a drummer for a famous rock band that has been suffering from severe depression since he was a child The band gets asked to play at a benefit and this is where he meets April He has minimal experience with women and wants to remain closed off due to his mental health status but there is something about April that he cannot forget April is instantly intruiged by him and tries to get him to open up to her They dance around things for a little bit but eventually start a relationship and fall in love There are some big issues with Beau s mental health and life in general but they work through them and get their HEA. Instalove No It was quick but I felt like it took a sufficient amount of time for those stronger feelings to develop H rating 4 stars Beau He was pretty damaged but he had a good heart and really wanted love in his life. Safe sex Yes Mentions of std status and birth control and H had had a vasectomy OW OM drama Not at all Sex scene with OW or OM Yes There is a scene at the beginning in the H s past when he loses his virginity 10 years prior to meeting the h so I even had forgotten about it when I first wrote my review Cheating NoPossible Triggers YesMental illness severe depression foster care surprise child and suicide Closure This had some good closure with a cute epilogue and a HEA ending. Safety Safe with exception Does Not have cheating Does have a descriptive sex scene with the H and OW Does Not have the H h pushing away Does Not have a separation between the h and H Does Not have abuse Does Not have OTT sad parts Does have a HEA ending English So you know that certain time of the month Yup you know the one When your hair feels like grass and your skin s a mess you re bloated and a chocolate bar could solve the world s problems But everyone around you is an annoying fuckhead and really you just need a good cry to make you feel better but at the end of it you also need to know that happily ever afters actually exist and everything is good and pure in the world. Well I present to you Snared Affirming your faith in love and life and that our pitiful existence in an infinite universe is actually worthwhile may be a lot of responsibility for one novel to shoulder but I think it can handle it. Beau s life has been surrounded by turmoil The family he knew the people around him and even his own mind is in state of constant storm and the only thing that brings him a moment s peace is when he picks up his sticks and he gets to quiet the demons by beating on his drums His life is weighed in the constant inner battle for balance to keep it all together in his head But when April struts into his life everything changes She opens a pandora s box of emotions he has never allowed himself to even dream of feeling But as she slowly starts to chip away at his walls but on a whole I enjoyed every bit of this story I didn t know what to expect when I went into this I had just read about Johnny s whoring ways that ultimately stopped when he found love with Bex Was Beau an undercover manwhore What was lurking behind his onstage persona I knew he had to have demons because that seems to be the trend of this series. There s an Author Note that warns Beau may wiggle his way into your heart and won t let go Beau did than wiggle He stomped trampled invaded and conquered Although this story touches on sensitive topics such as mental illness abuse neglect abandonment and suicide it also covered finding self worth self awareness conquering doubts and fears overcoming past trauma and allowing the beauty of hope and love into your very soul. Beau broke my heart repeatedly and then picked up the pieces and put it back together again His name was his true essence He was such a beautiful character to get to know As the reader we witness his distress panic dread and horror as his past influences his present We also get to see him triumph over his anxieties and attempt and achieve his potential as a man of worth A man worthy of a future and of love April was also a pleasure to get to know She was beautiful selfless generous nurturing and kind She provided an incredible counterbalance to Beau s darkness. This is the second book I ve read from LL Collins and I expect to make my way through her entire body of work her oeuvre Be prepared to have your heart strings pulled and for the strong potential of tears English Title SnaredSeries Jaded RegretAuthor L. L CollinsRelease date March 10 2016Cliffhanger NoHEAYesThis is book two in the Jaded Regret series and my first by this author This book was easily read without any confusion so if you were thinking of reading it first you re completely safe The author did an excellent job introducing the full set of characters without dragging down the pace of the story while at the same time giving us enough backstory to feel comfortable I m a sucker for a good musician story and it didn t hurt that the cover on this particular one was mighty fine And that s all it took folks I was sold on trying this new to me author This book was a little different than your average rock band book It wasn t filled with sex drugs and rock and roll and the typical conflicts you d come to expect The hero wasn t a detached manwhore intrigued by the unimpressed heroine He was a man who was tortured really truly mentally tortured by his unhealthy family life growing up The things he saw experienced and the mental abuse inflicted by his mother caused severe damage. Beau s father s suicide was the pivotal moment in his life The point where his happy memories faded and he began a dark descent into depression and self hatred He s a man who feels as if he doesn t deserve happiness in life or people who genuinely care about him In his mind he s toxic A monster When April a sweet and honest social worker comes into his life she sees past his quiet and intimidating demeanor It s the fear of his past his whole truth coming out that keep him from allowing her close. She didn t see me Not really She saw what I wanted her to see and she thought she liked me But she didn t know the darkness inside me What I was What ran through my veins. April was a great heroine She was so sweet and understanding of Beau s issues I really think that her history with foster children her career and training really opened up true possibilites for her to find a way to Beau s heart and mind He had been closed off for almost his entire life but her sensitivity and giving heart made her the perfect partner for him Yes she may have been a bit naive over how deeply he was troubled and how she could save him But she accepted him just as he was and was there to gently guide him to where he needed to be when he was ready. I do feel as if his recovery from his serious issues wasn t quite realistic After he finally got to rock bottom and had to get help I think the process would have been much intense and prolonged The whole book emphasized how deeply his mind was tricked into feeling as if he was worthless So I wasn t quite sold on his recovery in the end But that s me probably just being picky Overall it was a nice message of learning to love yourself before you can love others Of shedding your past and the prison that others put you in and allowing yourself happiness FOLLOW SMOKIN HOT BOOK BLOG ON English self note ugh no thanks just a personal trigger of mine English
