Epub the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 full episode K Webb 1962 essay by Graham Andrews The Magazine of Fantasy u0026 Science Fiction January February 2016Several less than perfect stories made this issue challenging but the Hughes and Yu stories were especially good and made the time worth it C. Book The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 054 Books To Look For By Charles De Lint Reviews two Stephen King booksMr Mercades and Finders Keepers and The Land Beyond All Dreams By Bryan Fields and Dragons Luck also By Bryan Fields and Spirit Caller Books 1 3 by Krista B Ball and Hilio The Boy Who Crashed To Earth by Judd Winick none of which he entice me to read. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016today C Finlay Wow but this was a strong issue Some of my favorites included The White Piano by David Gerrold Rockets Red by Mary Robinette Kowal and Braid of Days and Wake of Nights by E Lily Yu C. Kindle The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 toyota C Finlay A handful of good stories in this issue but nothing great My favorite is Albert E Cowdry s eerily poignant The Visionaries I also liked Nick Wolven s dark comedy Casper D Luckenbill What Are You Going to Do but it deflates quite a bit in the third act David Gerrold s The White Piano is typical Gerrold smart entertaining etc but not quite as good as the FSF stories he published last year I was a little disappointed by E Lily Yu s Braid of Days and Wake of Nights because she has been a favorite of mine for a few years now The story is decent but easily my least favorite of hers despite the heartfelt dedication to the late Jay Lake. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 ebook download Last Year FSF was the best of the SFF print mags in my estimation The Jan Feb 2016 issue overall is subpar based on where they set the bar but there s still plenty of quality to be found C. Book the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 pdf Touch Me All Over by Betsy James a folk tale ish story with the intriguing premise of a weaver come under the curse that anything she touches falls apart I really enjoyed this one. Historical Fiction The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 ford Smooth Stones And Empty Bones by Bennett North an excellent story about that old favorite undoing death Helena s girlfriend s little brother is missing Helena has a secret that can help one that doesn t depend on him being found alive The story begins astonishingly light and gradually grows heavy with weight. Book The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 Lighter fare but excellent and very entertaining are Number Nine Moon by Alex Irvine some ne er do wells need every ounce of ingenuity not to be left behind on an evacuation from Mars. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016m review Telltale by Matthew Hughes Raffalon the rogue is trapped in a cottage playing Scheherazade recounting every story he s ever heard The justification is ridiculous but that s entirely beside the point Finlay s done something very cool with the issue and gotten in three different Mars stories based on the issue s cover art Irvine s Number Nine Moon is one of them The other two are Gregory Benford s Vortex and Mary Robinette Kowal s Rockets Red. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016w review Vortex revolves around a sprawling microbial life form Rockets Red is a sentimental little prequel to Kowal s The Lady Astronaut of Mars I found both of them very slight neither one got me interested But having three Mars stories of such different styles and focus was a lot of fun and made me enjoy the combination than merely the sum of its stories Casper D Luckinbill What Are You Going To Do by Nick Wolven addresses a topical subject constant urgent calls to action on online media that no person can really answer It s topical but doesn t really go any further than exaggerated portrayal of online media nuisance kind of like an extended piece of net humor I wish he d go a little further afield particularly as this story feels so very very similar to his We re So Very Sorry For Your Recent Tragic Loss a few issues back. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 pdf download Robot From The Future by Terry Bisson is fun but I can t get past the feeling that I ve read this story a dozen times before most of them also by Terry Bisson It s basically kid finds robot from the future robot is weird and threatening in a silly way the end. The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 epubor Squidtown by Leo Vladimirsky has a weary son returning to his old hometown it s well written focused mostly on character and reaction without much plot All in all An issue with a lot of solid entertainment and several stories that stuck strong in my memory and really grew on me I particularly like how my favorite stories were from authors I ve never heard of before Getting three stories with a common premise added interest for me C. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 kindle edition Rockets Red by Mary Robinette Kowal Short but sweet Very nice depiction of an adult child older parent relationship Reprint Smooth Stones and Empty Bones by Bennett North Very impressed that this is the author s first publication I hope to see from her soon Average Number Nine Moon by Alex Irvine Decent science fiction story. Epub the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 full episode Braid of Days and Wake of Nights by E Lily Yu This probably would have fared better with me if I hadn t just read a wonderful New York unicorn story Maiden Hunter Beast by Kat Howard This one was good but not quite as mythical. The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 Historical fiction Totally captivated by the Science article Welcome to Pleistocene Park by Pat Murphy and Paul Doherty which talks about some of the extra effects of Global Warming that we should know about and possibly how to solve some of it If you get a chance to read this one article do it C. Ebook the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 archive C Finlay I was excited to see that this volume had a new Raffalon story by Matthew Hughes and as usual he did not disappoint The magazine as a whole was a strong one with fantastic stories by Bennett North and Betsy James An excellent issue C. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016n pdf C Finlay 7 Vortex 19 pages by Gregory Benford OK Long time explorers of Mars Juila and Viktor visit the Chinese base where the Mat appears to be sick I was waiting for Julia and Viktor to do something but they were just observers. Science Fiction Fantasy The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 hyundai 26 Number Nine Moon 21 pages by Alex Irvine OK good Mars is being evacuated Marco Steuby and Bridget go to an abandoned base to see if they can bring along any last minute treasure A sinkhole under the landing pad claims their ship and Marco Steuby and Bridget must be creative in finding a way back to the pick up point. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 book club 47 Rockets Red 7 pages by Mary Robinette Kowal Good Alternate 1974 A fireworks performance programmed on punch cards is in jeopardy because the cards were scattered just minutes before the show 68 Smooth Stones and Empty Bones 14 pages by Bennett North Excellent VG Helena s mother is considered a witch or really is a witch she has some stones that will raise the dead Really great ending. Book the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 issue 82 The White Piano 31 pages by David Gerrold Good A man had a dream about his childhood then he told the story of the few days around his mother s death This finished with his grandma telling a story of her childhood Specifically about a book publisher and his wife that fled Germany before WWII and how she stayed in their house during the war There happened to be a piano in that house that was heard playing at night. Book the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 book 113 Caspar D Luckinbill What Are You Going To Do 20 pages by Nick Wolven Good OK The title character is a victim of mediaterrorism Bombarded by ads phone calls emails television shows all telling him he is the reason for injustice in some remote part of the world The onslaught is so ubiquitous that he loses friends his job wife all because they can stand the ceaseless sound of gunfire children being tortured and interspersed with blame on him 133 Robot From the Future 14 pages by Terry Bisson Good A boy meets a robot in the woods The robot asks for Gas o line Theodore doesn t even know what it is He enlists the aid of Grandpa R 147 Squidtown 14 pages by Leo Vladimirsky Fair Johnny is in Squidtown talking with his sister He and he father had left years earlier to fight in the war The father long dead less even because it s been avoided. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 book review 236 Braid of Days and Wake of Nights 20 pages by E Lily Yu Good Julia s friend Vivian is dying of cancer Reports of a strange white horse doing mystical things in central park lead Julia to search for a unicorn to save her friend s life C. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016w review C Finlay Again another example of why I have enjoyed reading FSF for over 40 years Out of 12 stories in this issue I d give 9 of them 3 stars one a 4 one a 5 and the last one a 5 The one I d give a 5 to is The White Piano by David Gerrold a ghost story done as a story in a story with the main events occurring outside London during World War II Any lover of classical music would enjoy the descriptions of songs which are being played by the ghost The 5 goes to Braid of Days and Wake of Nights by E Lily Yu This story is about a young woman who is dying of cancer and her good friend who is trying to find a magical cure which in a way she does find C,161 Touch Me All Over by Betsy James First person narrative doesn t always work 176 Films by David J Skal Apocalyptic film reviews. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016x release date 181 Science By Pat Murphy Paul Doherty Article on the Environment, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 kindle books C Finlay 007 Votex By Gregory Benford Hard SF story about Mars exploration: The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 epubs 047 Rockets Red By Robinette Kowal didn t care for this one: The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016w review 068 Smooth Stones And Empty Bones By Bennett North her first published story082 The White Piano By David Gerrold This is Gerrold s First Ghost Story, Book the magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 edition 113 Casper D Luckinbill What are you Doing I m on my way back to work when the Terrorists strike, The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016y issue 133 Robot From The Future I liked this story with a few exceptions C, The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016 kindle edition C Finlay Standouts in this issue are The White Piano by David Gerrold a tender ghost story with great characters and settings a lovely read. The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016m review Braid of Days and Wake of Nights by E Lily Yu a melancholy urban fantasy of unicorn hunting and grief, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction January/February 2016 Historical fictional The Visionaries by Albert E Cowdrey is a paranormal investigation story that s sillier than it is funny although it s solid enough: The magazine of fantasy & science fiction januaryfebruary 2016w review C Finlay
