But there are a lot of people that don t want Rain and Kael to be together at all Someone has set a price on Kaels head and by association Rain but she doesn t want to give him up even though he is full of secrets but so is her best friend Charlotte Rain decides she is going to do what she wants no matter so she quits her job and makes plans to open the beiget shop she has always wanted to and with backing from Charlottes soon to be ex fianc Jax she can do it Kael has a dark side and he is afraid to show it to Rain but when he shows her just a little she loves it but Kael is afraid for her now that he has been informed that Falcon had put a hit on him and anyone he loves. Suspense This is just my opinion on the review that I am writing on Tell Me No Lies Ms Smith has done a fantastic job in sucking you into the engaging story of the characters There is suspense but this book just didn t work for me It is the writing style as that is flawless It is how the story plays out I stopped reading at 59 % The book started out very strong and I enjoyed Kael Rain s interaction They had a lot of chemistry Due to him being an assassin he lied a lot and once the Group told him he had a bounty on his head he couldn t keep his promise to Rain The promise was that the relationship would work Two years later he turns up and wants another try Rain does make him work for it though As Rain felt that she had a lack of judgment she gave up her dreams That annoyed me Rain is too naive and she is playing a game without even knowing and she sure as hell doesn t know the rules I felt her to be a bit of a doormat For the romance to build between the couple I felt as if they didn t spend enough time together and when they were together they couldn t get over the issues. Tell me no lies book I was never sure whose POV we were at so that confused me We got POV of the best friend.

Tell me no lies and keep your hands to yourself after 6 years in the Army he was so good at his job the CIA approached him He now kills people bad guys of course for a living He has a 7 year contract and isn t allowed to marry or have kids until his contract is up He d killed someone in Jamaica and there was a witness Now he knows better than to leave a witness but it doesn t stop him Could that come back to bite him in the ass He s with his buddy checking out the hot chicks walking by and he sees one that he wants to get to know. Book tell me no lies author than just a one night stand type girl Like maybe for forever He meets her and falls in love He could envision himself with her always if he had a normal life However with his dangerous job he knows better and is warned by Luke not to get serious with her Rain yep that s her name has always been a good girl and done what her parents have told her to do She dresses a certain way wears her hair a certain way all because that s what her parents expect She even works a job she hates because what she really wants to do her parents wouldn t approve of She s with her best friend Charlotte in Jamaica and is walking on the beach when the hair stands on the back of her neck and she turns and there s a hot guy close but paying no attention to her However they meet and she too falls in love with him instantly He doesn t want to break her heart so after time together with her he leaves early and doesn t contact her for 2 years Of course she s over him at that point and one daythere he is How many lies can he get by with before she finds out what he does for a living Will she run for the hills when she does I loved this book from the beginning It was very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next Kael Brady is one BAD A Loved Rain loved Charlotte But Luke creeped me out a little Great book that I would highly recommend Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha Romance Charlotte Kael Rain Mark the handler and the bad guy out to get Kael Kael spent time with his ex toy Zelie Rain spent time with Asa a complete stranger whom she shared really personally stuff with Then Rain met Gian Carlo Charlotte also met him and this is where we get her POV and how jealous she is of Rain Kael has specific tastes and with Rain he tried to tame them not to scare her off but was then willing to go to a BDSM club to still those urges IMO he should have just been honest As I was really impressed with the blurb I stalked the publisher to get this book and I feel guilty now as it turned out that it wasn t for me But got to be honest right Book received by Samhain Publishing in exchange for an honest review Romance Suspense Tell Me No Lies was a quick read I d have to say it was suspense than romance Not a bad thing but if you were expecting romance you ll be disappointed I usually prefer an equal amount of both romance and suspense so this one doesn t make the 50 50 calculation Although there were lots of twists turns and dangers mixed in with the odd romantic moments The story starts slowly but some chemistry develops between Kael and Rain love their names in Jamaica for a two week vacation strangers at first but eventually they become until things happen to ruin their happy ever after He s an assassin that has to lie to protect people He has a seven year contract and can t tell her about it For Rain she has a dream she passionately wants to make happen but she feels she can t follow it due to family pressure and expectations and therefore continues to be a boring accountant When Kael finally returns AFTER TWO YEARS Rain makes him work for the possible second chance with her As a person Rain seems naive and weak and lacks the strong female character attributes that I usually like to see in a protagonist However she comes a long way as the story draws to a close As I say if you are looking for a suspenseful read with some danger and a dash of romance you should definitely read this book. Tell me no lies lyrics My Rating 3 out of 5 Stars because I love swooning over sexy badass assassins and I love all the danger lurking in the shadows Romance Suspense Tell Me No Lies was actually a difficult book to rate because there were aspects of the story that were really great but then there were parts that really didn t work for me to the point that they actually detracted from the book As this is mainly a romantic suspense novel involving spies and assassins I am going to try to stay as vague as I possibly can so as not to ruin the book for potential readers In order to do this I m going to approach this different than my normal reviews so bear with me Starting off with what really worked for me Smith writes a killer romantic suspense storyline Tell Me No Lies is chock full of action suspense mystery lies betrayal and murder The author does a great job of offering up plausible suspects In fact there were times that I felt it was too obvious but even with what I thought I knew I really didn t know For the most part I liked that the book was told from both Rain and Kael s points of view There was a bit of a glitch with that as there were times it seemed that the author was trying too hard to keep things secret from the reader to the point that the characters didn t think about the topic at a time they naturally would this was a bit frustrating not because the information was being kept from me but that it resulted in a character s stream of consciousness being interrupted and giving it a stilted feel to his or her thoughts I also found it strange that almost halfway through the book we lose Rain s point of view for a while in favor of Charlotte s point of view While there were some definite merits to getting part of the story from Charlotte there is so much bitterness and jealousy from her character that I m not sure what Smith was trying to accomplish by featuring so much of it But as I said the cloak and dagger romantic suspense elements of the story were really well written and had the author stuck to that I would have rated book higher Unfortunately there were just too many things that didn t work for me Two of the biggest issues I had were Rain s character and the sex As a woman with a master s degree I get that it s easy for us to have times when we doubt ourselves women seem to be hardwired to do it But Rain s self doubt seemed rather extreme for a woman with an MBA and who everyone considered stunningly beautiful both inside and out Yet time and time again she doubted who she was what she was doing her dreams her feelings everything Despite how frustrated I got with Rain s self doubt I really really felt bad for her because there was practically no one in her life that she could count on except for her sister The woman should have cut most of the people in her life out of it especially her mother and best friend The sex was the other big detractor for me Now I m not one eschew sex in books I love sex in books My problem was there was WAY MORE to the sex than the spanking warning suggested and I just didn t like the way it was presented I have no problem with kink seriously check out my other reviews but I felt like Kael s kink was added merely to slap a BDSM label on the book It didn t add to the actual story and the scenes were far hardcore than would be expected for someone of Rain s experience no matter what kind of reading she had done For me the BDSM aspect actually took away from the story Yes some of the scenes were hot and there was definite chemistry between Kael and Rain but the intense scenes did not ring true And I just have to say that Kael s failure to solve the issue regarding the letters made absolutely no sense considering his training I might could swallow Rain not figuring it out but Kael not sussing it out yeah that was the only failed romantic suspense element in the book in my opinion. Suspense tell me no lies trailer To sum it up despite the things that didn t work for me Tell Me No Lies is a really well written romantic suspense novel So I would definitely recommend it to romantic suspense readers who don t mind a big helping of BDSM in the storyline Truth be told had I been expecting than a bit of spanking I might not have been so thrown off by it but the spanking dirty secrets dirtier desires line in the warning didn t come close to scratching the surface of what occurred between Kael and Rain sexually Will I read the next book in this series I have no idea it will depend entirely upon who it s about Will I read by this author Yes Smith s writing was easy to read kept me turning the pages and even when I didn t like the characters she gave me plenty of reasons for it. I am a fan of romantic suspense and those stories that blend the two well enough to give equal attention to both the romance and the suspense are the ones that worm their way into my heart I really wanted this one to tunnel its way in too The suspense was there in spades but the romance fell flaccid See at provided for an honest review Romance Suspense Having a hard time getting into this one Setting aside for now Romance Suspense.
