When Charlie saw her home and the childhood portraits It had me chuckling The humor just came out of nowhere especially compared to the first 80% of the book It was a sweet story I d definitely read the rest of the online romance stories Fran Seen I was given this book by the author in exchange for and honest reviewI am not sure where to start It was justThe book starts out with Dolly explaining how her and Blackbird met online Its cute how their relationship developed over time BUT the way my mind works. Contemporary blackbird lyrics Of course I get that it goes with the story it just doesn t seem realistic talk to someone for years and not know what they look like I can t see that happening Anyway Dolly is a young college graduate trying to live up to her father and sister idea of who she should be. If you ve ever watched the MTV show Catfish you know that sometimes people are not who they say they are and other times for whatever reason people get cold feet when it comes time to meet face to face Well I will not ruin it for you and tell you which category main characters Charlie and Dolly fall into but I will say Blackbird was a delightfully sweet read that surprised me. Black bird kindred While Charlie and Dolly have conversed daily for the last two years neither of them has sent photos of one another in that time When Dolly wants to meet her cyber BFF in person Charlie declines DollyWOOD you can t be serious You re my best friend What am I to you Blackbird What it boils down to is this friendship cannot leave this chat box A distraught Dolly comes up with a plan to find her internet friend with the pretense of making sure he is alive as Charlie has conveniently disappeared without warning one day Blackbird vanished He left no trace he ever existed at all He deleted his online accounts including his email The only evidence I had of our friendship were archived emails Dolly finds Charlie and the mystery of why he stopped all communication is disclosed This book has a lot of humor to it too One of the adorable quotes I found funny was A young girl about four years old with cherry popsicle stained lips and glossy pigtail braids told me her name was Taddy and that she d sell me her baby brother Finn for a piece of chocolate and a piggy back ride to the mailbox and back Kids say the darnest things and I could see one of my nieces or nephews saying something along those lines too. Blackbird simulations 5 stars upgraded to 4 Fran Seen Blackbird an Online Romance by Fran Seen is a romance novel that captured my attention from the beginning This is a story about how a young man and woman who met online and bonded They have spoken with each other online for years and they look forward to their daily talks Until one day Charlie Blackbird disappears His account is cancelled and Dolly can t find him anywhere online Worried he is hurt Dolly uses the only information she has his address to find him and make sure he s alright She discovers he is safe but also finds out the reason he disappeared This shocks and upsets her In the end she must decide to either become accustomed to the Cherokee culture or live the life she has been expected to live This quick read is one that held my interest throughout the entire length of the novel I enjoyed witnessing the bond between the two protagonists Dolly and Charlie Both characters were easy to relate to and their struggles were also easy to understand For being a quick read I give this book a 5 star rating I would recommend Blackbird to those who like romance and like see characters grow and change overtime Fran Seen got this book by the author for an honest review and even though it wasn t as good as LoneWolff it was an Amazing book The Characters in this book are closer to each others age and they don t have all those lies from the beginning which made it easier at first. Blackbird x This leads them to form a strong supportive friendship that lasts for several years Or at least until Dolly asks to meet face to face Charlie s not amenable to the idea for numerous reasons which leaves Dolly both hurt and confused When his online accounts disappear shortly afterwards she s left to grieve this loss and then with an overpowering need to determine that he s okay She decides to use what little information she has to find her closest friend in the world who just happens to be a man she s never met. Blackbird nina simone And on this journey she discovers about Blackbird and herself than she ever could have imagined First things first I really enjoyed this novella and its exploration of an online relationship that eventually becomes so much when it steps outside of its internet boundaries as real life demands to be acknowledged dealt with and embraced This story is infused with warmth humor and many moments that are believable sometimes frustrating and often touching I enjoyed the easy flow of the dialogue as well as the interactions and dynamics between Dolly Charlie and the other supporting characters throughout the book I often found myself chuckling and laughing out loud at various points along the way The author s writing style is both interesting and engaging She uses numerous details to paint a vivid picture of not only the surroundings but the characters and the intimate personal experiences that have shaped them Ms Seen does some interesting things as she incorporates signs and symbolism as well as myths legends and folklore into her tale i. Blackbird fabrics The way Dolly s quest played out was often funny sometimes intense and definitely interesting Blackbird s reasons for cutting her off made sense on one level re family legacy the preservation of Cherokee culture heritage and community even as he wasn t being completely honest or fair on another She had every right to be upset that he didn t trust her with the truth But if he had they probably wouldn t have met And there s a strong sense of fate within this story that all of it had to happen exactly as it did in order for things to unfold in the way they were meant to. Butcher and blackbird epub When Blackbird tells her I ve never seen someone so at odds with nature regarding her klutzy outdoor moments there is an underlying message there because Dolly s not at peace within or comfortable with having what she wants The heat between Dolly and Charlie though it comes about quickly was believable to me because of the connection they had prior The fact is that these two were friends online for almost six years and knew things about each other on a deeper level We get the sense that Dolly shows of her true self to Charlie both online and in person than to most people including her family So once they finally meet and discover the intense attraction between them it s clear that the groundwork is already laid They were like two magnets who couldn t help but be drawn to one another. Blackbird beyonce But Dolly doesn t know how to navigate these waters She doesn t want to be the mistake he regrets even though she wants him with all her heart And Charlie Well he had his life all planned out according to his established beliefs and ideals and Dolly showing up blindsides him At the same time her presence forces him to be truthful not only with her but with himself He does say at one point that he couldn t marry a native woman and have a piece of himself belong to another As far as I was concerned it was already too late on that score He just needed the wake up call to acknowledge that fact. Blackbirdurubici As much as I loved their dynamics humour and the intense heat between them there were a few things that struck me as unrealistic For example First as far as I could determine not only they did they not use any form of sexual protection but neither of them appeared to even think about or mention it after they had sex Don t get me wrong I understand that the heat of the moment can drive out rational thought from time to time but I feel it should have come up somewhere along the way These are two grown adults who are in circumstances where he is engaged to be married to a woman he barely knows for the sake of his clan and heritage and they have decided to have sex with one another regardless I feel they both should have been concerned about a potential pregnancy and what the repercussions of that could be Dolly could have mentioned being on birth control to alleviate that concern or they both could have acknowledged somewhere along the way Oh hell we didn t use a condom Maybe they knew things about each other s sex lives from their discussions online over the years but since this isn t alluded to it s not confirmed Safety first and at the very least a passing thought for the potential consequences of sex beyond the emotional would have been a good idea. Blackbird contemporary dance Second though I understand where they were coming from with the close online relationship and intense chemistry and physical attraction there are those in Romancelandia who will still consider this cheating He is engaged to marry another woman and has sex with the heroine knowing that she cares for him and he has nothing else to offer at that point He acknowledges that he s being selfish a few times in wanting her to be with him and she also makes a choice here because she wants him so badly I get it But even learning that his fianc is a bitch on wheels doesn t change the fact that he in essence broke his word It might have been better to have had Charlie in a situation where he was dating Ossie with the understanding that if they decided they liked one another the intention would be to move forward to marriage And I was hard pressed to believe that Charlie who couldn t say a thing good or bad about his bride to be beyond her native heritage and who grew up hearing the same rumors and issues about her family that his mother and grandmother later shared would just ignore these issues or his family s concerns for his ideals It didn t jive with the intelligence honesty and wisdom of the man that was portrayed otherwise. Blackbird song Third Ossie was written in a way that was meant to assure that we didn t feel sorry for her in any way even when he broke his word She was rude prejudiced judgmental money grubbing a tattle tale disrespectful and But it doesn t change the fact that she found her fianc with another woman and called them both on it I didn t like her but I also felt that she was a bit of a caricature designed to allow the story to fall a certain way If we actually liked her then we d have to question the fact that both Charlie and Dolly did in fact do wrong with regards to his intended The fact that Ossie s whole family had this bad reputation and there wasn t a good thing to say about any of them bothered me It was just a bit too convenient plus it made me scratch my head with regards to Charlie s judgment. Ebook black desert First and foremost this was such an easy read I read it in less than 24 hours So if you are looking for an interesting quick read with a very unsual plot this is for you It was completely easy for me to get through this It is apparent that we are now living in the digital age where social media and technology dominates Facebook Twitter Instagram and whatever other social media platform you can think of are all a big part of today s generation Social media is everywhere technology is everywhere and everything is advancing This book it being about an online romance was highly relatable I bet way than half of us can relate to Dolly our protagonist using internet as her escape from her everyday reality I for certain used internet and still do sometimes to get away from my reality whether it be from the stress of school or just my day to day life in general Fran Seen did a fantastic job capturing what it was like for teenagers and even adults to be involved in the online world While this book is about online romance I will have to mention that this book was definitely a lot than just about online romance It touches on family values relationships and hardships Not only that it also educates us a little on Cherokee history their traditions and beliefs folklores and etcetera I ve got to say that I definitely learned quite a bit just from sitting down and reading this book Who wouldn t say that s a plus I learned a lot from this book than I had expected I was initially expecting this book to just be about two strangers falling in love through the internet and I had never been wrong about expectations. Librarian s note This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B01A2APL7Y BlackbirdI m a sucker for online romances and the blurb caught my attention of course the big online romance on the cover helped The story starts with Dolly telling us how she met Charlie Blackbird How he disappeared and how she set off to look for him All very serious in tone and interesting She got to know his family and reconnected with him but it was towards the end that made me really like the book It was when the Drummond family had a break down and started talking to each other Blackbird online over a mutual interest in cemeteries After 6 years though Dolly wants to meet him after all he s the only one she confides in so it would make sense to speak in person to the human behind the screen Dolly asks him to meet but there stops a consistent daily trend of speaking as Blackbird declines and goes silent Taking matters into her own hands Dolly decides to find Blackbird and find out the secrets he s harbouring and why he is so desperate to never meet But can she be prepared for what she will face Or will she wish she had never even asked Alright now to get it out of the way please note this is a NOVELLA So yes it s going to be a quick and fast paced read and that is just that so obviously that s no reason to mark it down Writing Firstly what really drew me into this was the composition Normally the novella s I stumble across are not of great quality literary wise and make for dull reads This however had a beautiful writing style that is so succinct but evocative and immediately drew me in cutting into his t bone steak His rose gold cuff links gleamed back at me in the candlelight and clinked against his plate With each saw of his knife red juices pooled on the plate hitting the mound of mashed potato like a sea wall If that isn t epic descriptive writing done effortlessly and masterfully I don t know what is. Blackbird simulations Characters This mainly is focused on two main characters Dolly and Blackbird Obviously there is limited room for full character development but even in this novella there was some great character battles with themselves and each other and signs of development both have to face dilemma s that are important to them and their beliefs and weigh up the risks with the gains Or at least analyse what they want vs what s expected of them either way I felt there was a good amount of internal anguish in this to construct solid characters that could easily be related to Story I ve never read a story like this and without giving too much away I think it ranks high on originality I liked how it opened in the present and the flicked back to an overview of their blossoming friendship and snippets of their witty conversations I laughed so much during this at scenes or even at just one liners and although once the secret is uncovered it s a little predictable as to where it s all heading it still makes for an exciting read Throw in the craziness of Dolly s family unit and it s just one whole rollercoaster following them alone Improvements Hrmm like any novella it could be longer but that s like judging a little meerkat and saying it d reach the leaves easier if it were a giraffe this just isn t a novel so put that aside Personally this would have worked brilliantly as a slightly longer novella with maybe a little torment and anguish before the HEA It all fell in place quite easily after a certain point Some of the conversations could have had depth or building to them but that s getting quite down and pedantic about it Overall Getting over it s length this is a quirky great quick read and I read it over two sittings and had to refrain from reading it at work to complete The writing flows effortlessly and the story develops at a rather suitable pace for a novella there s a hook a dilemma drama and a resolution and it all works fantastically I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review See of my reviews here Fran Seen 3.
