The rich detail and atmosphere becomes a bit of blur If you want to make a book that is part of a series that is fine If you want to make it have lingering plot lines that is also fine. Book sand and scrap metal recycling But the book also has to make sense This one gets very confusing The text really starts to lose focus when the plot turns away Michael Carter and starts hopping inside other characters heads We lose focus of Michael about a third of the way into the book and it gets worse from there We start following one of his companions In some parts it works to the book s advantage It is never made explicitly clear where exactly the story is taking place Is it on Earth Another planet in the future A fantasy realm Bookworm personally thinks it was technologically advanced.

Loved it Incredibly tight prose sophisticated plot dark and disturbing Absolutely stunning Full review to come Dregs of the Culver Waste Review Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 Dregs of the Culver Waste a debut book written by Christopher R Sendrowski is decent piece of dystopian fantasy fiction story. Sand and scraplife wrestling In his story the author takes into the fantasy world full of mystery and magic full of realistic believable characters where the most important skill is know how to survive Though some of the fellow reviewers have remarks about the length not for a single moment I was bored or tempted to skip a few of the pages. All products books to scrape - sandbox Therefore this well made dystopia made as a mixture of mystery suspense and action elements will certainly have appeal on readers who like read fantasy novels and dystopian visions of human future. Sand and scrap ebook pdf I was given a copy of this book by the author for the purpose of unbiased review while all the presented information is based on my impressions Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 I was really hesitant to read a dark fantasy novel I love most other fantasy genres but this was a bit of a test for me Needless to say I was quite surprised when I couldn t put this one down Yes it s very dark at times and the world of the Culver is as vile a place as I have ever read of But the story was very unique and exciting and the characters as a whole were a lot of fun There is quite a bit of violence in later chapters but never than what the story required It s a brutal land filled with horrific predators so it fit perfectly in the telling. Sand or scrape popcorn ceiling My favorite characters were oddly those that didn t hold the spotlight the entire time But I liked that the author took the chance in doing this The story culminates in a crazy dance of violence and action and the final chapters lead me to believe the sequel will only be wild and exciting This was a great debut from a self published author and leads me to believe this series will only get better and better Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 Found through an ad on and figured I d give it a shot Awesomeness Loved every moment of it even some of the real dark moments that happen late in the book Great characters and descriptions the story flows like a rollercoaster ride and I really loved the nasty burnt up landscape that acts as the backdrop My particular favorite aspect of the world the Acid A sea deliberately polluted by magic to make it useless to everyone These are the details I long for in fantasy Not to mention the fact that the main characters are basically janitors cleaning up a toxic waste spill Albeit one on a continental level Fun play on magic and the unfortunate draw backs of its use and I was so relieved to find neither a magic sword nor ring to rule them all Cliches were few and far between and the warts and all approach the author took to his world really blew my hair back My overall feelings on the book a lot of great description whip fast action and colorful characters made this is a blast to read Chris Sendrowski is one of the best self published authors I ve found on and I ve read many at this point A few minor flubs hear in there in the copy editing but overall a really well polished work Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 Wonderful book I read this on a train while on holiday and it was outstanding Action packed and down and dirty Loved the creatures of the waste Chris created especially the venus flytrap like nagra that can devour you and feed off of your body for years I also loved how the cleaners of the waste wore the skin of sharks as protection against the many poisons still roaming this horrific landscape Lots of scoundrels and warm hearted characters to love or hate and a lot of heart in the overall core of the story Can t wait for a sequel Cheers Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 So I was sent the ebook for free in return for a review and here it is. Sand and scrap kindle uk It started out quite well I was enjoying it at the start and then I began to enjoy it less and less I think what I didn t like about it mostly was the fact that it just became extremely weird Some of the things that happened left me extremely confused and it didn t help that the POV was constantly changing to both characters we d already been introduced to and a multitude of new ones There was too many characters to keep up with and so I kept getting lost and I wasn t sure what was going on some of the time There was only one character I truly liked as well and so the only parts I actually found myself enjoying were sparse because there was so many POVs that we barely got to see him The ever changing POVs also meant that in my opinion there was very little character development and some of the characters didn t seem to have consistent personalities it almost seemed like they occasionally did things to further the plot rather than because it was in their character to do so. Ebook sand and scrapes If you re looking for something a bit out there and not done before and you don t mind weird then you might like it Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 This book was gifted to me in return for a review so here goes First off I love the Mad Max movies and this felt like it fit right into that genre without being a direct imitation That s a big bump for me because I love anything post apocalyptic But this book took it to the next level taking a fantasy realm and turning it on its head The world of Retrac Daor in which the book takes place is a barren toxic mess upon which the people of the land scramble to eek out a survival It s a clear and distinct world even if its the most hellish place I ve read about in any fantasy novel lol Every creature that roams the waste is predatory by nature a roaming weapon left over from the great magic war that destroyed the landscape Even the weather is tainted elemental clouds roam the desert ancient spells long since cast and forgotten Fire and brim stone people And that brings us to the main character Michael Carter who is but one of the thousands of poor souls skulking along the work lines in the hopes of finding work And what work it is disarming forgotten magic traps cleaning toxic sands and swamps salvaging forgotten relics and weapons And all for a few coins of gold Now the book really picks up speed after Michael and his work crew enter the wastelands Mutants diseased magic men pariah s of the ruling class the group of characters that we follow along with are quite the colorful bunch They come from every walk of life and wretched shadow and I found it fascinating to learn each of their background stories We have two mutants one of which is the blue collar worker of the bunch the other an exiled inventor banished from his homeland after failing to appease his father There s an exiled magic man longing to right his past and make good with the ruling elders And of course there s the many dregs of the land the bastardly scoundrels whom surround this bunch and do whatever they can to thwart their efforts at bringing in their priceless find. Epub sand and scrap book Now once these guys discover a long lost bunker that s when all hell breaks loose Soon everyone in the Culver seems to be descending on the bunker all desperate for the mineral that lays hidden within a rock called meridiun Apparently this is the source of the magic mens power and the only means through which to cure the land and regain control of the elements I don t want to reveal too much after this point I ll say this though around Chapter 15 the book s pace quickens at a crazy pace Make sure to pay attention and keep up for the list of characters and locations rushes at you like a freight train. Book sand and scrap metal recycling As you can tell nesting beneath the polluted ground waiting to drag down the unwary And it only takes one false step he whispered A tough break but that was the life of a Culver cleanser Dig scrap disarm and hope to return from a work detail with enough fingers to still count your pay But as with any risk there are great rewards Even in the Culver Waste a land fouled by a decade long war and plagued with poisonous elemental traps and vicious predators treasures untold remain hidden beneath the toxic sands Relics scrap weapons even entire cities all abandoned and forgotten after the last great magic war swallowed the land whole But not everything can remain lost forever And when Michael Carter and his work crew unearth a mysterious bunker while on a cleansing run they soon learn some things are best never found again The Review Post Apocalyptic books are all over the place and the success of films such as Mad Max Fury Road has cemented the role the genre plays in popular culture. Sand and scrap epub free One detail that always seems to escape writers of post apocalyptia not to mention medieval times is that those worlds are dirty Not just dirty filthy In a scorched desert landscape water is too precious to waste on bathing so people can t really scrub the accumulated filth off they acquire ThisThe author does not shy away from these facts Visceral is the way to describe the tone of this book Many characters and the places they live in are of the wretched and dying variety In a tone that almost matches Fallout 3 s this world is a fallen one There is all but nothing pleasant or comfortable about this world Injury and mutation are rampant The author does a stupendous job in painting colorful word pictures even when the colors are brown red and colors of grime That is okay though Unlike a lot fantasy authors these passages do not weigh down the story The pacing in this story is very well done and immediately grabs the reader to take them on an adventure Maybe it goes a bit too fast though The beginning starts out well enough with its rich detail and atmosphere but then when the story gets moving in ernest fantasy realm but the fact that he doesn t know works in the books favor Another thing about the apocalypse is that things are destroyed caretakers die memories die but things move on No one really knows much about this world s past because records have rotted away along with the peoples who remember the past Working from that angle one must be careful or the story will wind up being hollow Tasty frosting on the outside but not enough cake on the inside Too many books fall victim to having illustrious detail but little story to make sense of it all While not completely lost this book is definitely leaning towards that fatal flaw The most indicative proof of this is the fact that Bookworm can barely remember anything about the overall plot The only things that Bookworm can recall about the latter part of the story is a sandworm a library being burnt and Michael befriending a cat lady That s it he doesn t recall how any of those things tie in with each other nor can he remember in other character s name When one point of view character died later in the novel Bookworm s initial response was a shrug and a who cares Final Verdict Dregs of the Culver Waste should be read for the sensory overload and skilled worldbuilding but ultimately falls victim to its divergent storylines and a few too many characters Three Scraps out of Fivethecultureworm. Sand and scraparatus com Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 I was disappointed to read a novel of this length only to discover that it s a serial there is no resolution at the end of this book However this portion of the story is well developed The author has built a vivid world of scoundrels all trying to survive the hellish waste their home has become The imagery is strong and many of the scenes are intensely enthralling I felt though that there were too many points of view too many stories within the story to get emotionally invested in the characters But despite this by the end of the book I discovered that the emotional investment was in the world as a whole wanting it to become the better place the characters longed for I missed this at the end the beginnings of a better place even if only a glimmer of hope had been presented Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1 This is my first review here and I m thankful it will be a good one lol I won a free paperback copy of this after I signed up for the author s mailing list and decided to give it a go on a dark and rainy day a few weeks back Needless to say I was quite taken aback by how good a book it was. Scrapbooks by the sea Now I usually don t read self published books forgive me but I m still adjusting to the times But this read very very well The writing was very descriptive and tight without overkill and I was also really impressed with the cover art and map illustration If I hadn t known better I would have thought this was a traditionally published book. Free scrapbook materials online The story was very dark and dismal as was the setting and this might be off putting to some But for me that s what gave the book it s soul I m used to reading fantasy novels normally set in very Tolkien esque settings so I thought the change was a nice breath of fresh air Yes the story leaves you hanging at the end but the fact that I cared so much said a lot for how the story resonated with me My favorite aspect of the book was a blind pirate you get introduced to in the last few chapters He reminded me very much of Captain Ahab and being that Moby Dick is one of my favorite books this really clicked with me Also I loved the means of transportation the author devised for crossing an ocean that has been changed into acid lol It s a lot of fun and some of the best writing in the book occurs in these final chapters. Scrape information from a pdf I don t want to give too much away after all I m writing this so you can discover the book for yourself But to sum it all up I enjoyed the unique setting and story and I never once felt bored or frustrated with the writing or characters I only wish self published books were crafted as professionally and tight as Dregs of the Culver Waste Check it out if you want venture into a dangerous foul world where hope is as sparse as beauty Bravo Chris Sand and Scrap Dregs of the Culver Waste 1
