Rebirth space pretty girl So given that praise you may be asking yourself why I would only give the book three stars While the plot is great truly congratulations to the author for a very well thought out premise I am a reader who loves excellent characters I want through a character to go on a journey through an emotional landscape Unfortunately the main character Abigail Brennaman is a cipher with whom I never connect I know about the other characters in the book than I do about Abi I know about events in their childhood why they chose their professions and bits about their emotional makeup Unfortunately for Abi I finished the book knowing only the event that propelled her into the situation she finds herself in that she was a doctor in Texas and that she likes Merlot when she eats a steak I really don t know much about her I don t know what she thinks why she thinks it what her goals in life are her weaknesses any childhood traumas friendships nothing really and frankly she doesn t do much throughout the book which I could absolutely forgive if I understood her personality enough to think Aha See that s just like Abi It s her ultimate weakness that she always or never In the final analysis while I thought the premise the plot the pacing were terrific I never really got my fix for a deep and multidimensional character with whom I could empathize or hate or love or whatever.
