I ve seen this in reviews of books from those who only like clean reads and will give a low rating if there is anything sexual in it regardless of how good the story is. so i guess it is possible.
The Earl of Steinbeck His Wicked Lady Marriage by Arrangement 1 I started and finished this book in one day and loved every moment of reading it This is the first Regency Romance that I ve read from Ruth Ann Nordin and I loved the fact that I didn t end up skimming through paragraphs of filler in order to return to the story I loved that it wasn t filled with stupid misunderstandings and meaningless fights that take chapters to resolved because the characters can t talk to each other like adults I also love the idea that while Malcolm starts out prim and proper that he is able to loosen up because of his wife.
Why it didn t work 1 Heroine was VERY manipulative The first sex scene almost screamed rape to me If not rape I ll settle with forced seduction No There was no violence used but there are different kinds of forces In case there is any confusion Heroine forced hero Or coerced Or manipulated. 2 Heroine LOVED her first husband and he was mentioned often Now damned if you do damned if you don t I was mad he was mentioned I was mad she moved on I would be mad if she didn t move on I m mad he took it so casually I d have been bad if he held it against her It was an unholy mess One I wish I wasn t part of. 3 Hero truly didn t want to be with heroine He didn t enjoy her company She had to significantly change herself to make him like her So what is the point Why the 2 stars though 1 Even though it was abrupt and felt forced The hero changed as well and came to a compromise He understood what she needed pleasure compassion and companionship She understood what he needed A respectful wife at least in public They started respecting each other. 2 He really truly loved her son That was one of his main concern He wanted to be his father Not a stepfather Even before knowing the boy or the boys mother he wanted to be included in the main role not a side role He was worried that she really loved her late husband Frederick and Frederick would always be her real husband and the kid s real father and he d just be a second best step father But the kid loved him And refused to call him anything but father Heroine realised he s a gentleman and a good father and gave the fathering role over completely to him It was really touching His Wicked Lady Marriage by Arrangement 1 Historical Rom Com h Lady Regan Algera widow with a four year old son Leonard Her late husband Frederick was the Earl of Cantrell He was also survived by his mother. Three friends of the ton who were matchmakers one of them Melissa Lord Malcolm s sister Both Malcolm and Regan asked for the matchmakers to find them a suitable partner Melissa after meeting Regan felt she would be right for Malcolm Malcolm had already met Regan He thought she was a bit forward He didn t bother meeting his betrothed before the wedding and was shocked that his sister and the others chose Regan to be his wife Needless to say he didn t treat her that well She went to his bed on their wedding night and initiated sex as hard as it is for me to understand it. I usually don t care for reads with a dead ex so when it s the hero with the dead ex because I hate the constant comparison being made and I prefer the H h only ever loving each other. Although it didn t bother me too much with the heroine constantly referring to and thinking of her 1st husband it still didn t sit right with me He died 3 years ago and she has been celibate since his death She was not mourning him any longer and did love Malcom the hero but I still felt it unfair he was not her first love. 5 stars Even though the hero is not very likable in the beginning the heroine than makes up for it with her spunky ways This is by no means realistic Regency and I was fine with that The hero s transformation was a little sudden but I do believe in their HEA The heroine s son was super cute too A that was missing was an adorable pet His Wicked Lady Marriage by Arrangement 1

I appreciate the way she shows that marriage is a matter of compromises.
