Secrets of a wolfp painting When not writing which isn t often she enjoys living in Florida with her family and loyal dog companion Snickers site_link It was a nice quick read and I m excited to read the next few books in the series I like the new idea on the shifter aspect as well it is a nice change from what I am used to and didn t take away from the story I did have one issue very small but not too big I was there was story I felt that it would have been nice to watch the couple grow and not just be informed that it happened after the fact since the story takes place over a couple weeks I think Other than that it was a nice read Secrets of a Wolf Guardians of Spirit Rock Book 1 For the record I ve been a HUGE HUGE fan of Kelly Abell for years and every single book she has written has been fabulous So naturally when Secrets of a Wolf came out I jumped at the chance to read it This is not Kelly s usual genre and it is so nice to see she is expanding her talent I don t like to give spoilers so my review will not contain any Instead I like to focus on the writing itself Kelly s unique style of character interaction is impeccable I love the way her characters conversations flow so naturally without heavy expression or drawn out unnecessary dialogue The setting in which she places this story is wonderful The Black Hills of South Dakota has always been shrouded in mystery and is known to be an enchanting and sacred place The way Kelly paints the scenery and landscape with such precision is remarkable Lots of showing not telling which I love love love The characters themselves are strong and complement each other without dragging out the plot The secondary characters are just as captivating each one adding their own twist without overshadowing the main storyline Too bad 5 stars is the highest rate on As far as I m concerned this is another winner for Kelly Abell If you want a great shape shifter romance pick up Secrets of a Wolf You will NOT be disappointed Secrets of a Wolf Guardians of Spirit Rock Book 1 Kelly Abell has scored a hit with her latest paranormal romance novella Secrets of a Wolf the first in a series of four she s entitled The Guardians of Spirit Rock Right off we meet Dr Daphne Valentine I love good names in a story and hers ranks right up there as she arrives at her new job as a ranger in a national park in South Dakota She s left Seattle under difficult professional and romantic circumstances which are hinted at but not spelled out Thus we get plenty of suspense in the opening paragraphs Daphne no sooner sets about cleaning the cabin she s been assigned than the title character appears big and black and licking his chops The wolf hangs at the edge of the clearing while Daphne tries futilely to make mind contact with him a power with which we re already familiar from her conversations with her little Yorkie Harvey another nice name especially if you re familiar with that famous Jimmy Stewart rabbit By page two then with hardly a shred of cumbersome back story the stage is set From that point on action and juicy romantic and paranormal complications tumble forth at an exciting pace I won t play the spoiler with details and I do have a slight quibble in that I thought some of the conflicts get solved a bit too quickly and simply Whether you agree about that or not though leaning towards bored with the story. Secrets of a wolfp parade I was told about book four and then asked the author well what about the first three should I read those first to which she replied here ya go hahahaha okay not quite like that but close So I get these books can I take a moment to say yes I wanted to lick the coverlol but I digress and so I open this one Secrets of a Wolf and am sucked into this story from the first chapter I mean seriously feeling this woman s transplant into a new location and job and surroundings But she s not just your ordinary woman either she can communicate with Animals How freaking awesome would that be and no I am not talking like Dr Doolittle or some crap I mean like picture images to convey what they mean Back to the review story so we know why she is where she is what we find out is she is absolutely hilarious I mean her luck has to get better right And when she meets her boss giggles yeah clothes might have been nice but what better way to cut the ice than greeting him in your undies wrapped in a sheet LOCKED OUTSIDE Yes that s just in the first chapter and it gets so So SOOO much better from there Their chemistry is incredible and yet they both fight the pull until of course you just have to give into your baser instincts wink wink So yeah there is a lot LOT to this story but if that first bit gets your interested then I can t wait to hear what you have to say about the whole book oh heck the whole series Because YES I have read them all and will review them too squee So find out what makes this town special and the people in it whom are the guardians brothers that will knock your socks off The women are ultimately the best written group of women I have come across lately and I thought Alpa men were great in a story they have nothing on these ladies Seriously oneclick this series you WILL NOT regret it I truly LOVED this book and the following ones as well as we follow the brothers guardians their adventures and finding love MUSTREAD ONECLICK SHIFTERLOVE Secrets of a Wolf Guardians of Spirit Rock Book 1 Gifted peopleI enjoyed how the gifted people in this story protect the land animals and people The characters could have stood development I think my favorite character is Harvey the Yorkie Secrets of a Wolf Guardians of Spirit Rock Book 1
