The Door By Lizzy Ford Young Adult The Door There’s only one rule: Never lock the door Gianna believes manual labor to be penance for the mistake that changed her life. Nothing can be worse than serving probation under the supervision of a bitter, elderly woman, known as the Caretaker, running a bed and breakfast in the middle of the Arizona desert. Then the strangers begin arriving. They appear every night at sundown at the end of the driveway and vanish early in the morning, armed men and women who don’t quite look or act normal and never travel in vehicles, despite the property being twenty miles from town. Where they come from baffles Gianna, as does the single rule the Caretaker gives her. The front door must remain unlocked and the house accessible to the dangerous visitors no matter how unusual or frightening they are. When one of them arrives wounded, Gianna helps save him and unknowingly makes a powerful friend, one from a very faraway place. In fact, from another world entirely, the world that starts at the end of the driveway. Before she can learn , Gianna is left alone with the strangers and must choose whether she’ll take over the Caretaker’s role as hostess or return to New York and risk jail time for violating her probation. Frustrated with her life, Gianna locks the front door instead. Her world will never be the same.

I just couldn t get used to the plot I didn t connect with the main character I m giving three glittery stars to this book The Door The Door is about a 19 year old girl named Gianna Gianna is on house arrest and sent to do community work after a manslaughter charge where she defended her life and ended up murdering a druggie who attacked her The place she is sent to is a Bed and Breakfast in Arizona that needs maintenance work on the property Gianna soon learns there is something strange going on at the BNB This is my second book of Lizzy Ford and I m in awe of how creative she is I devoured this story It had everything I like in a good sci fi fic I m a little unsure if the end is the end or if it s being continued so it didn t end on a huge cliffhanger but yet it still left off with the possibility of I want If you like Aliens.

I was obsessed with this author s Trial series so I was excited to get ahold of this book It had so much promise and such a unique premise The creativity was there a different premise than the usual paranormal However space travel as well as time travel exotic animals and a great love story this book is for you ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review The Door I received an ARC of this title from the publisher in exchange for an honest review Though I enjoyed reading this book mostly there are a handful of things that just made me grit my teeth What WorkedThe Door is a very intriguing and a refreshingly creative premise It took me most of the book to unravel the mystery of the door and though I may have skipped over some bits in each chapter see below I did find the plot gripping What Didn tFor a story about multiple dimensions and various alien planets I felt the world building was a little underdeveloped Maybe I ve been spoiled by Sci fi greats like Eric Nylund and Ursula LeGuin but I just never felt like the worlds were real Sometimes we re just told things like there are robots or there is a shield stick that protects against monsters but the tribe who owns this technology won t share it or the portal opens at midday and are expected to just accept it as truth The author often avoids a thorough explanation because her protagonist Gianna doesn t really understand science or isn t really interested in politics Um. Book the door of no return There was also one of my least favorite YA schticks Insta love combined with semi obsession If you re looking for two people who instantly fall in love when their eyes meet and spend a good portion of the book gazing at each other it seems like you re in luck Personally I would have liked to have seen their love grow out of genuine interactions but apparently Gianna and Teyan are just destined to be Guess I can t argue with destinyI really hated being in Gianna s head Her thoughts became repetitive to the point of tediousness I got so tired of turning back to subjects like can Teyan and I actually be together and It s so impossible for me to be with Teyan why do I even try and on and on Often Gianna was like a broken record playing the same three songs We d even get multiple flashbacks of things that happened earlier in the book UhI know alreadyI was there with you 30 pages ago. Young adult dress pants I soon started skipping over any introspective or flashback bits to jump to the action Overall I m still very on the fence about this book It was a quick read and genuinely enjoyable but there were so many aspects that removed me from connecting with the world and the characters that I m not sure I would read other Lizzy Ford titles at this point The Door Lizzy Ford chick you kill me I I just don t know where to begin OMG REALLY These worlds you build man you must tell amazing stories next to a fire lol. The doorkeeper poem Ok well I am so impressed with these characters that Lizzy has introduced me us too Tyan he is so interesting and I couldn t get enough of him All the Tribes and all their issues The Caretaker Gianna and all the drama she has been through I felt so bad for her So young to have to endure all that crap I actually started to re read this one I just loved this story Wait till you meet all the different types of characters and their tribes It s all so exciting If you re looking for a newer paranormal read something different this book is for you I really love how this story is told and i cannot wait for the next book If you are already a Lizzy Ford your gonna like this The Door I received this book via NG in return for a honest review. Young adult dragon book series So I m stepping away for a while Might come back to it later Not sure The Door
There s only one rule Never lock the door Gianna believes manual labor to be penance for the mistake that changed her life Nothing can be worse than serving probation under the supervision of a bitter elderly woman known as the Caretaker running a bed and breakfast in the middle of the Arizona desert Then the strangers begin arriving They appear every night at sundown at the end of the driveway and vanish early in the morning armed men and women who don t quite look or act normal and never travel in vehicles despite the property being twenty miles from town Where they come from baffles Gianna as does the single rule the Caretaker gives her The front door must remain unlocked and the house accessible to the dangerous visitors no matter how unusual or frightening they are When one of them arrives wounded Gianna helps save him and unknowingly makes a powerful friend one from a very faraway place In fact from another world entirely the world that starts at the end of the driveway Before she can learn Gianna is left alone with the strangers and must choose whether she ll take over the Caretaker s role as hostess or return to New York and risk jail time for violating her probation Frustrated with her life Gianna locks the front door instead Her world will never be the same The DoorThe Door is an extraordinarily beautiful and intensely heartfelt story of discovering that while life can be painfully hard it can also be exquisitely breathtaking What wonderful things can live just beneath and beyond our survival induced perception of the world around us When life beats you down it s easy to shut down and close our heart and mind to the good things around us We fear they will be taken away so we don t acknowledge them or even seek them out Surely not all the good in this world can be so easily erased but we refuse to allow it if humanly possible.
The doorknob alice in wonderland Gianna has barely survived a particularly rough patch in her life She finds herself being punished for something that wasn t her fault but even still she refuses to give up She is still holding onto the thin strip of her sanity and soul as she finds herself a long way from home While she will never be the same again she is desperately trying to find a healthy balance to her new life While her new existence is nothing like she hoped she is finding that perhaps what she needs isn t what she necessarily wants Once she figures out that fighting will only make her miserable she slowly concedes that allowing herself to soak up all of the newness might be just the thing to bring some much needed hope and light into her dark dreary life She just needs to find the courage to move past the numbing and life preserving fear that has controlled her life for so long I had no idea what to expect when I started reading The Door but I was incredibly pleased with what I found This is an impossibly astonishing story that will quickly latch onto your heart no matter how much you want to shake it off I found myself amazed at how strong Gianna is in spite of what she feels and sees in her own heart She is so much than she gives herself credit for and she has a destiny that only a select few will ever experience Life may have given her some painful baggage to carry but she can choose to let it go and grow from it while becoming something she never could have imagined The choice is hers and her heart won t let go of this new beginning very easily.
The doorbell Lizzy Ford has truly surprised and immensely delighted me with this highly imaginative story I haven t read any of her books until now and I was incredibly impressed by her amazing talent I love finding new authors who can turn my world upside down and I have found such a brilliant treasure in Lizzy Ford I can t wait to read the second half of this story and find out how this wonderful story ends I have such high hopes for it The Door 2.
The doorbeen 5 The Door I ve been a little overwhelmed by time travel books lately but this was different It was of an interdimensional travel story instead When Gianna is convicted of manslaughter the judge sentences her to a year of probation at a secluded bed and breakfast in the middle of the Arizona desert Forced to do grueling manual labor by the mean old lady known only as The Caretaker Gianna thinks she might not survive the year Then strange things begin to happen Odd visitors show up at all hours seemingly disappearing again the next day She can t figure out who they are or where they are coming from The only thing the Caretaker will tell her is that she is not under any circumstances to lock the door ever The she learns the stranger everything seems There are Five Peoples that seem to come through the gate They are very different and not all that friendly One night a handsome young man is carried through bleeding into the house She helps the Caretaker tend to his wounds and the two form an unlikely bond Never mind that she can t understand the language he speaks Never mind that the Caretaker tells her to stay away from him The two are drawn together When the Caretaker falls ill and then dies Gianna is forced to step into her role as Caretaker After an unexpected event overwhelmed and scared maybe a bit angry Gianna decides she s had enough She breaks the rules and locks the door The world as she knows it will never be the same It was only locked for ten seconds but she will spend the next year trying to recover from the consequences That ten seconds proves to be far damaging than she ever knew Thrown into adventure and danger she never could have imagined Gianna must decide who she is and what she is capable of Her very world depends on it This book has some interesting twists and turns that I didn t always see coming It has romance mixed in with all the danger and intrigue This book is filled with some very interesting characters Gianna may be in over her head but perhaps she was chosen for something far greater than she could have ever imagined I enjoyed watching her grow and overcome her traumatic past It took her a lot longer to see in herself what others around her saw Lots of fun The Door Gianna has been through a terrible ordeal and ends up being punished for something that was definitely not her fault Sent to a BB in the middle of nowhere to complete her probation she is forced to live a pretty lonely existence and told never to lock the door Once she realises that the BB and indeed its owner aren t what they appear things begin to change This is a really great start to the story Gianna s emotions reflect what she s been through but her actions show she s much tougher that she gives herself credit for Lizzy has done a brilliant job of introducing a new set of characters and worlds yet making them blend in easily with ours we see everything through Gianna s eyes which is great because she s the most non judgmental character and everything is as new to her as it is to us I really don t want to give too much away as I really think you should just read the book I am looking forward to the conclusion I really enjoyed this book it s well worth a read.
Book the door I received this ARC for an honest review The Door I LOVED this book I feel asleep reading it work up to finish Ms Ford proved to be one hades of an author in this story.
