Low Life: Paranoia (Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection #19) By Rob Williams
But man it s a slog getting there Low Life Paranoia Judge Dredd The Mega Collection 19 So here is an update on this book it is now part of the Megacollection and as such as I work my way through the series I realise now I will be returning to some of the stories I have read in the past However that said I see now that even though these collections take their names from the original versions there are some variations and alterations some have drawn criticism from the dedicate fans but it does mean that there were stories here that I have not seen before and I must say just add to the enjoyment of the series Periodically I like to dip back in to the world of Judge Dredd and so here we are again This time with something slightly different we are in to the world of Low Life the true gutter life of Mega City one. And seeing that justice is done in their own particular way the way Wally Squad those strange Judges who choose to go undercover and root out crime in their home territory However after years living among them who can say which of these Judges are truly spotless. And so begins a number of tales of the questionable and dubious antics of the judges For me I think the stories are still instantly recognisable as Dredd stories however this is not you usual faire and you know what its great fun Now I could not read too much of this style of graphic novel however its great to remind yourself there are still stories and the people of create them who have totally unabashed about what they are doing and in the process having a ball This book is how I remember it back in the days when I would beg borrow and steal but always return my friends 2000AD Low Life Paranoia Judge Dredd The Mega Collection 19 Dirty Frank loves all babies. It has 2000AD written all over it The volatile mixture of punk.
A pretty good set of tales sat on the edge of Dredd s world Low Life is the real slums of MC 1 where the worst characters dwell dark grim and gritty Full of noir ish substance as we are mostly riding along with Wally Squad members while Coleby s illustrations in the second half took some getting use to afterwards since their styles are complete opposites The stories are great though dark and gritty with the second half becoming humorous Either Judge Aimee Nixon or Judge Dirty Frank are the star of these tales and while Dirty Frank is quite the character I have to say I m really impressed with Nixon a real tough hard core female character with an intense background to match I think from Rob s intro this collects all the stories to date from 2004 2007 Low Life Paranoia Judge Dredd The Mega Collection 19 The strongest stories in the Dredd universe tend to be about the people of Mega City 1 Dredd is a great character but his flatter and staticky than a newly installed flat screen It here in the pages of Low Life we meet the Wally Squad Judges who surrender their everything to vanish into the criminal underworld and rip its heart out from the inside These are broken Judges ruined by balancing the line without the uniform and shield to remind them who they are They are the Law But the law is complicated than we ve ever seen it Low Life Paranoia Judge Dredd The Mega Collection 19 Returning to 2000AD after a half decade hiatus or so Rob Williams has impressed me as one of the most talented of the new crop of Dredd scribes so it was disappointing to finally catch up with what I assume to be his early work and find it so wanting It s certainly difficult to see what the point is of Low Life in a world which also contains The Simping Detective deeply eccentric Wally Squad Judges check neglected sh thole area of Mega City one check plenty of sex and puerile humour check One series of this type of thing yes but two at once I can forgive this volume its rubbishness a bit than Simping just because I know Aimee Nixon and Dirty Frank will eventually go on to bigger and better things comedy subversion solid storytelling and often gorgeous artwork which I came to love so well Low Life Paranoia Judge Dredd The Mega Collection 19

A brilliant liar in Aimee Nixon and the totally mad cap Dirty Frank both characters are full of depth as they offer than Joe Dredd can, Me on the other hand I just plainly love all Low life bundels No exceptions.Except the nazi ones
