The opening and closing sections are I think the strongest parts of the book in the beginning Leff lays out his case for why rhetorical study needs to be expanded beyond the Aristotelian model and does so convincingly Likewise at the end Leff argues for senior faculty immersing themselves in the teaching of basic introductory courses as a way of gleaning significant insights about the work of rhetorical criticism and theory in action The middle sections about close text reading and examples thereof are informative but for me lack the drive and passion that the opening and closing seem to be infused with 1611862132
