Although this had a great plot it could have been an awesome 5 star story if it wasn t constantly interrupted by repetitious sex scenes For someone so concerned about Camille s reputation in that narrow minded town Remi took a lot of risks having sex with her in places where anyone could see or walk in The premise that Remi and Camille could possibly get back together after 10 years despite so many secrets and obstacles was awesome and page turning until once we slam into another sex wall Return to Passion Making a life altering decisions at an early age sets the wheels of life in motion for Camille Ryan Not knowing what to do now that she has to return to her bible thumping home town of Fairdell GA A story of self forgiveness Return to Passion Not a huge fan of the writing as it left me feeling detached A lot of the dramatic emotional moments Camille learning something major about Remi Remi s grandfather giving a pivotal speech in church are merely recapped for us rather than allowed to play out in real time The big subplot about Remi s grandfather and Remi s mayoral bid don t quite put up as much hurdles as I expected And the whole subplot about the catty ex lover who keeps trying to flirt it up with Remi is one of my least favourite tropes in romance mostly because she didn t have much of a personality beyond being bitchy to Camille and scheming about winning Remi for herself And even in this case we learn about her big play for Remi through other people recapping what happened Return to Passion How likely is it to find a 30 odd year old virgin in a contemporary romance novel Well the fact that Camille Ryan comes from a conservative background is supposed to be an explanation and I suppose that would be easy to accept However this same woman has been spending almost 20 years in New York She s 34 years old and thus her virginity becomes a pathetic joke one out of place in a romance novel set in modern day America. Return to passiontree Not only that but we re supposed to believe that the fans of her erotic novels believe that she s been sleeping with scads of men in order to gain the experience they read between the pages Uh hello It s called fiction for a reason morons We also are expected to accept that her would be boyfriend the one she left behind two decades ago can discern how many men she s been with simply by scanning her naked body Not really possible unless she s one of those women who commemorate their beaus by getting their names tattooed on her skin Good thing that bit of foolishness is dispensed with quickly. Return to passionnement One of the reasons I gave up Barbara Cartland novels so many years ago was because I got tired of her endless parade of limpid blue eyed blondes or Titian haired females and the redheads were always Titian never carrot topped strawberry blonde auburn dark gold copper apricot cherry or brown who knew no about sex than a brainless toddler of two The venture into Harlequin and other purveyors of romances was meant to provide savvier powerful strong willed and sexually adept heroines Virginity in and of itself is boring it simply means you haven t done something and since when is sexual inertness interesting The subplot of Remington s political career being threatened by Camille s erotic writings comes to naught I wondered what all the fuss was From the generic title to the happily ever after ending this book is one proven expectation after another If you want variety and surprises skip it and stick to action comics Return to Passion FULL REVIEW POSTED Return to Passion is the first book I ve read by Carla Buchanan but thanks to monthly Harlequin Kimani subscription which is BAE I ll be checking out of her work. Book return to passion summary Admittedly I am not a fan of small town romances Rochelle Alers has been the only author who I ve allowed to get away with it The other romances I read that featured small town were not my cup of tea However I am a fan of the second chances subgenre so I decided to give Return to Passion a chance It also has a lot to do with the fact that Remington Krane is one fine man Let me know to even front about that Return to Passion
