Stellaluna living books It still took Yuko than 10 years of office job before she figured out what she really wanted to do and to save just enough so she could go back to school full time for 4 years. Living with arthritis This is how Yuko came back to New York in 1999 where she briefly spent her childhood and enrolled in School of Visual Arts SVA Yuko graduated with MFA from Illustration as Visual Essay Program in 2003 and has been illustrating since She also teaches a BFA Illustration course and occasionally advises MFA students at SVA. Art living room ideas She works in a studio in Manhattan a space she shares with two artists whom she considers as her New York family Yuko has not gotten into mid life crisis since she became an artist. Living with dogs Whenever she has time Yuko loves to travel to different cities and countries to lectures at art schools and events and to meet with other artists professors and young aspiring illustrators to get inspired. Living with quilts NOTE The Japanese designer Yuko Shimizu who created Hello Kitty has no relation to this Yuko Shimizu site_link Yuko Shimizu is a Japanese illustrator based in New York where she teaches at the School of Visual Arts Owing to her immense talent and the success of her work in 2009 Newsweek Japan selected Yuko as one of the 100 Japanese People The Art Design Illustration Fashion Gift World Respects Living With Yuko Shimizuall the illustrations were gorgeous it will fit well in any coffee table or living room Art Childrens Comics I discovered the work of Japanese artist Yuko Shimizu in a very peculiar way that being the fact she liked my book reviews here on GoodReads I now own this compilation of some of her work which I got as a Christmas present back in 2016 Each painting contains some comments from Shimizu about the creative process involved and the surrounding cultural context This is something I quite appreciat I draw and paint in my spare time having exhibited at local public libraries and culture houses so I enjoy getting some perspective involved from how other artists think and work I plan on creating an Instagram page to showcase my artwork in the near future The easiest way to describe Shimizu s art style is all the influence of Meiji Restoration era woodblock prints on the French Art Nouveau movement getting assimilated back into Japanese art traditions a snake that has finally gotten around to eating its own tail Her extremely specific taste in subject matter does the rest of the work in creating something unique The fixations on display revolve around Late 19th century early 20th century technology in general antique bathing suits and diving equipment in particular detailed depictions of water clouds or flames in motion not to mention meticulous attention to her main characters clothing and hairstyles Her compositions are at once decidedly minimalistic and in their own way still ornate with much attention to placing the important elements in the places where they make the most impact and depicting those central pieces in elaborate detail with an absurdist sense of humour popping up in several pieces Come to think of it those elements overlap with what I aim for in my own paintings even if I get very different results than Shimizu as as a consequence of coming from a very different culture than her. Living with pixels As a matter of fact I already get inspired just by reading it or even typing this review Art Childrens Comics Received this as a gift today and am looking forward to spending time with it A little antsy though because I ll eventually have to decide whether to take advantage of the removable frameable pages Art Childrens Comics Sometimes you just have to follow your intuitions I felt strangely attracted by Yuko and her art Being friends on GR probably helps but I m sure there s to it I guess if I can give my uneducated opinion on books no one will stop me from giving it on visual arts too The drawing style is unique hand drawn reminiscent of older cartoons and they have this quality that I associate with book covers Let me explain that maybe it s just me but often when I start reading a book I m perplexed by the cover art Being forced to look at it every time I pick it up almost invariably deepens my appreciation of it I listened to myself and decided that I should wait and live with Yuko Shimizu for a while because at first the ones I liked the most were the ones with the brightest colors Reach Out for the Stars and Your Orisons May Be Recorded which I realized was quite caveman like of me Yesterday I picked it up again and I spent the entire afternoon contemplating those 32 drawings searching for their meaning My current fascination with Freud certainly has something to do with it but I d argue her work is transparent to her inner motives It s probably accurate to say her work as an artist involves displaying her inner self Now when I look at them I m genuinely surprised at how much there is to uncover For instance I had only glanced over Bird Guide without making much sense of it but after some thought those birds are leaving feathers behind The boy is either trying to catch them forcefully or is playing rough with them he has band aids too Also the point of view is from the height of the birds so it s likely that the observer is one of them Another example is When I Opened My Eyes which seems to translate the idea of feeling like trash However the color of the bags the leaves means they re like bags of fallen leaves which seems to mean feeling discarded for being old I might be projecting a bit Frogfolio introduces the black and white liquid as sexuality it s full of tadpoles it s wet and it s literally dirty and it s found in a couple of other drawings where it makes perfect sense too but I should probably stop it here. Living with parents In summary I think the drawing style is charming but it took me some time to fully appreciate it What I really love though is what she s able to convey through it It s strangely satisfying to learn to know someone this way I feel connected to her even though it makes no reasonable sense Maybe my interpretation is wrong in some cases but I feel like her work is a bit dream like open to interpretation but with deeply personal threads nonetheless, Holly brook assisted living It never made her quite happy and she was in a mid life crisis at age of 22: Living without a stomach It never made her quite happy and she was in a mid life crisis at age of 22, Living with a serial killer kindle Oh and btw my new favorite is The Song of Everlasting Sorrow Art Childrens Comics
