A real and very rare African American deputy United States marshal who served during the late 1800s Every story is a winner even if the first story s conclusion is rushed a little Solidly recommended I look forward to reading Volume 2 Stuart Gauffi s gravel voice is perfect Bass Reeves Frontier Marshal Volume 1 Fantastic fictionalized pulp stories about the single greatest lawman Western America has ever seen I only hope we get volumes of these anthologies Bass Reeves Frontier Marshal Volume 1 It s about damn time I forget where I first heard about Bass Reeves I think he was a small mention in a half hour long documentary on lawmen of the Wild West or something but that small featurette was enough to get me curious.
