Sometimes these poems speak to me calling me out charging me to think or take action in some way Sometimes they speak for me I see myself my story in these words in a way I never would have thought possible Sometimes they merely show me new worlds or my world better But always they move me or move on me What a gift. Marginalia to Stone birdnow I have read a number of their short stories and see resonances between those and many of these poems I don t know if it would be necessary to read the stories to get into the poems Marginalia to Stone Bird I own this book I ve loved Lemberg s work for a long time and am so happy to support them by buying their book The poetry is delightful Marginalia to Stone Bird I received Marginalia to Stone Bird as a winner of a giveaway which I entered because I was intrigued by the themes addressed in this book despite I am not well versed in poetry But the description of the book was very interesting and it got my attention However I was somewhat disappointed because the back cover promised something that I did not recognize in the content of the book I was expecting an engaging read on topics that are dear to me such as immigration I am an immigrant myself and cultural identity Granted I may not be in the best position to judge poetry since it is a literary means that I find challenging This book in fact was particularly challenging for me I found the writing unaccessible at times pretentious and often obscure In other words I couldn t connect with the words nor had a good sense of the stories with in If poetry is something you are well versed in I do recommend reading this book The topics are relevant and thought provoking If you are like me though and find poetry difficult I think you d be frustrated in trying to make sense of this book Marginalia to Stone Bird.
