This was my third book of Siobhain s and while I devoured the other two I was unsure about this one at first It starts at the end of the story then works through the family and all their hidden secrets and lies I ended up thoroughly enjoying it My only criticism is that I would have enjoyed getting to know the characters a little better but with five adult children the parents and some supporting characters the book didn t explore the characters too much and there was a son in law we never got to meet at all All in all this was a good read 9781781999905 Blood and Water is a great read It s the kind of novel that has you at hello It starts really strongly with a funeral scene where the description is painted so vividly that it is as if you are there a spectator amongst the mourners The Bertrams have lost their patriarch and the well respected and much envied family congregate around the grave each caught up in their own private thoughts It is very soon apparent that there is an intriguing family dynamic at play and as the reader you are drawn into the web of deception Nothing is as it first appears Each chapter introduces a new character and each character is incredibly flawed and intrinsically linked by family ties to the one before In parts incredibly shocking sexy sad and humorous this novel sweeps you up and you become morally entangled as new information comes to light revealing another twist and another way of looking at the situation depicted Your moral compass will forever be flawed after reading this novel I read this whilst waiting for the Luas as the bitter wind stung my eyes and froze my fingers I sacrificed sleep for this book nestling into the pillows with the duvet wrapped cosily around me my eyes watering with exhaustion but still I felt compelled to read on If it weren t for my husband my children and the pesky need to work I would have devoured this novel in one sitting This book deals with some weighty themes and isn t for the feint hearted However it is a fabulous read and a truly well written book Blood and Water is what all books should be a great story that sweeps you up and sucks you in and makes you think long after the last page 9781781999905 Very good read characters very well portrayed and the drama that keeps happening Family dysfunction and dynamics make it relatable but not in as much with the Bertrams their a while other level its a 5 for me enjoyed so much quickest I ve read a book in a while 9781781999905 Really good scandal drama page turner for sure 9781781999905 Brilliant 9781781999905
