Maggie's marriagement Next up in the series is Patrick s Promise Patrick is the oldest sibling in the O Brien family He is also the one I believe is most in need of healing English I LOVE marriage in crisis stories and this one sounded like it would fit the bill perfectly It started out so promising Michael the workaholic just works nonstop stays out all night never coming home any Maggie wonders if he might be having a fling on the side She bitches at him to be home but he wants to make partner at the firm so he bitches back and refuses to give up the hours at work He doesn t text doesn t call and just stays out all night long as well as missing out on important family events that he promises he ll show up to Maggie decides being a wife who is basically a single mom wasn t working for her any and she packs her shit and moves her kiddo to the town where her family lives where she can learn to be happy again She gets a job and enrolls her kiddo into school never planning to return to her husband I was loving this story so far Bring on the angst But sadly there was no angst Once Maggie moves back to her old town NOTHING happens Maggie works her daughter goes to school the big ass family has tons of family dinners together Maggie and Michael rarely talk he s too busy trying to get ahead at work but when he does call she s brief with him and pretty cold to him as well He s pissy and sulking that she up and left his ass behind Then the story takes a turn and becomes Maggie s brother Liam s Rachel s story too So much of Liam and Rachel s story that it should have been named The Maggie s Marriage and Liam Knocks Up his Girlfriend Story Why the hell Liam and Rachel had so much read time in this story after having their own book already is beyond me This story became long and drawn out and NOTHING really happened until Michael doesn t make partner so he up and quits his job and moves to the town Maggie now lives in And SURPRISE Michael is loaded now thanks to his dad s inheritance A ridiculously simple ending to their marriage woes UGH This story was so boring no drama no crazy OW no cheating no anything really just two hard headed jerks refusing to talk to each other and work their shit out in their marriage The only spark in this story was Rachel s evil asshole friend Chelsea but nothing interesting came from her either I almost gave up on it and now I kind of wish I had This one should have not included of Liam and Rachel s drama the author should have chopped out all the boring and long drawn out backstory of working school and Maggie s huge family life boringly detailed to the extreme about all of her siblings as well as the setting up the background for Patrick s Maggie s other brother upcoming story I found myself skimming and a little bored 2 ok stars English 3 OK or decent reads Recently Maggie had been homesick than ever before She knew a lot of that had to do with the irritation she felt with her husband Michael and his constant absence at home. free 21 November 2022 English Too Boring Too Boring I could not would not finish this book If you want to be bored then this is the book for you English Where do I even start Maggie loved her husband and daughter then life itself Yet she never felt so alone Her husband Michael who is sexier then but is a very driven Attorney He up for a partner and is working very hard night and day sometimes not even coming home at night Michael loves his family Michael and Maggie are working hard to making their marriage work he doesn t just show up and is instantly forgiven I know that there will be about them in the next books and I look forward to seeing how they progress English ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest reviewWelcome back to Birch Valley the place where nothing is perfect but love conquer all What I really liked about this book is that the story and the characters feels real and it s easy to relate to Maggie s married to Michael a sexy and rich lawyer who wants to become a partner in his law firm They have a lovely daughter Melanie and everything seems perfect But Micheal s long hours at the office leave Maggie alone She starts feeling trapped lonely and homesick She is sad she fears that her marriage is at its end To clear her mind and find support she along with her daughter seeks refuge back in Birch Valley back to her family Maggie could be seen as a coward but i think that it takes courage instead Taking distance from an unconfortable situation sometimes helps to give it the right perspective.
