Jessie Solomon grew up with a mother and father that have a strong stable relationship that has outlasted most connections Why is the oldest child of three flailing through her life and completely unstable Why can t she see the forest for the trees Her two sisters Jelly and Jerry are progressing and succeeding in life with few issues but on every turn Jessie seems to hit a brick wall When will her life come together and she can finally live happily ever after Then Darren tall dark and full of wonder swaggers in to her life wanting to right all the wrongs that she s encountered He wants to be better than the husband she lost in an ATM robbery However he consistently falls short of any target he strives for to impress her Darren has his own past to sort out and as long as he keeps his secrets she will love respect and trust him. The honest and frank insight into the workings of the female mind that were so evident in Part 1 of The Plastic Face continue into Part 2 a gloriously well observed often amusing commentary on the vagaries and strangeness of relationships in the 21st Century. This is further augmented by an excellent family drama that is truly shocking and heartbreaking at times but always believable JESSie NW captures perfectly the dysfunctional nature of families and how the very different characters within a family both interact with and impact upon each other The story portrays superbly the secrets of family life that either bind or divide. So all in all an out and out 5 star book Well very sadly not quitethe book is absent of one critical thing namely a good edit Aside from proof reading issues the way the book moves from a first person narrative to third person prose could and should have been better managed At times unfortunately this resulted in reducing the emotional power of the book Further books in The Solomon Sisters story are available this year and this reader for one will most certainly be buying them It would also be wonderful to see as a precursor to their launch a revised and suitably edited version of The Plastic Face Part 2 Nothing would give this reader greater pleasure than posting a 5 star review for this work Kindle Edition
