Loose Lips: Fanfiction Parodies of Great (and Terrible) Literature from the Smutty Stage of Shipwreck By Amy Stephenson Paperback 145556642X 9781455566426 Loose Lips: Fanfiction Parodies of Great (and Terrible) Literature from the Smutty Stage of Shipwreck You’ve probably heard rumors about regions of the internet dedicated to fanfiction—vast, unmapped territories for fans so taken with their favorite books and movies (not to mention video games and cartoon cereal mascots) that they write their own continuing adventures. You’ve probably also heard the stories get real dirty and weird. Everything youve heard is true. In 2013, humanitarians Amy Stephenson and Casey A. Childers took fanfiction from the internet to the stage with Shipwreck, a monthly erotic fanfiction competition. Shipwreck is simple: 1. Invite (bestselling, Hugo, Nebula, and Rita award winning) writers to rework literature into low humor, erotic pastiche, and, like, LOTS of dick euphemisms2. Perform said rewrites for a well lubricated crowd3. Repeat Here, in book form, youll find the most outrageous wrecks in Shipwreck’s three year history, drawn kicking and moaning from twenty three of history’s most cherished books and illustrated for your pleasure. LOOSE LIPS will destroy your favorites, shock everyone in your book club, broaden your perspective, and (hopefully) make you laugh until you pee a little. Plus, a foreword by Seanan McGuire!

So hopefully this review will provide a small boost to the smutty literature industry 304 When I first heard about this I was like a book filled entirely with ridiculously bad smutty fanfiction of classic novels with an introduction by Seanan McGuire SIGN ME THE FUCK UP The reality unfortunately did not live up to the expectation I read about 70 pages of this last April and it was just such a STRUGGLE that I gave up and finally came back to it now one year later I think the main problem is that I had not actually read or seen the majority of the original books that this book is parodying Sometimes that doesn t entirely matter because I had enough general cultural knowledge to make up for it but with some I was just completely lost Like if you put a gun to my head I could not tell you a single thing about The Wind in Willows I would be like uh there s willows and some wind Or Little Women mmm women who are small I have honestly no idea Therefore parodies of these works are just going to confuse me because I have literally zero idea what it is supposed to be parodying It got better as it went along.

Sometimes they were tears of boredom It was just such an up and down rollercoaster that I m honestly not sure how I feel about it but I think 3 stars is accurate enough. PDF Loose lipsey's I would recommend this book if 1 you have read most of the books being parodied because I think that would have made this infinitely enjoyable for me and 2 you are very familiar with fanfiction and also BAD fanfiction in particular because I feel like a lot of people who are put off by the style of this book don t necessarily understand the common badfic tropes the authors are using and WHY they are using them Having an in depth knowledge of fanfiction is.

Crazy entertaining read that is filled with OMG what did I just read and smorgasbord of grown up dirty mind stories then this book is for you Just remember this book is meant to be fun and not taken seriously So if you are ready to get shipwrecked then this parody book is for you 304 Nope this was not what I was expecting It was definitely not the book for me I thought it was going to be some fan fiction with maybe some steamy scenes thrown in However the whole book seemed to be all about shocking the reader by how disgusting it could be I was excited for the fan fiction side and figured there would be some not common hook ups but it was unbelievably crass and disgusting in that sense I really have nothing positive to say about this one I find that sad.

If you enjoy absolutely filthy humor and are a dedicated aficionado of fanfiction then I suggest you give this book a read The Jaws story was pretty good imagine a housewife chasing down the shark armed only with long harpoons and superb strength from a life of Kegels you can work out the rest I received a free copy of this book through Goodreads Giveaway 304 I don t know what I expected 304 This wasn t really what I was expecting I ve read some fanfiction but what little I ve read before was different from this If you are really into fanfic and dirty jokes this may be something for you I was unable to get into because it seemed like the goal was to be as ridiculous as possible The introduction explained that this collection is actually stories from a group that gets together and acts the scenes out with props and everything I imagine it s much funnier in person with the visuals and a group of friends feeding off of each others laughs Maybe something necessary is lost in plain page format or maybe it just isn t my thing copy given in exchange for an honest review 304 If you enjoy smutty fan fiction this book is for you The pieces range in quality as with any edited collection but I personally found the Frankenstein works to be the most enjoyable Having read the original texts can be helpful but is by no means a requirement especially as characters from popular tv series also make guest appearances 304 Very interesting look into the world of Fanfiction If you are a fan like I am you will enjoy this one I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Thank you 304 Loose Lips: Fanfiction Parodies of Great (and Terrible) Literature from the Smutty Stage of ShipwreckI love all kinds of romance and isn t contemporary romance influenced by fanfic My book club certainly is and while this is not a scientific reference they are totally reliable I also enjoy a quirky turn and since this was a recommendation I gave Loose Lips a go. Book Loose lipstick To say that I did not enjoy it would not be an understatement I got that it s parody of the bawdy kind so that didn t bother me did I mention my love of contemporary and erotic romance but I just didn t jive with the material Slashing the classics with some salaciousness is different but not unique But that didn t turn me off Rather it was the writing style that harbored on the frenetic that I couldn t connect with The forward was outputting in its hubris and maybe that is what gave me misgivings I know hope it was meant to be funny but it fell flat Also the italicised offshoots in the introduction seemed unnecessary and weren t funny either All in all Loose Lips was not my cup of tea 304 Not every story in this collection is 5 star worthy but there should be erotic fan fiction in publication mostly I think because the parodies moved from classics into genre fiction so I had a much better idea of what was actually going on The Frankenstein parodies were probably my favorite Sometimes I was laughing so hard I was crying in my opinion just as important to understanding this book as having an in depth knowledge of the books featured 304 ARC provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review Loose Lips is an eclectic hodgepodge of parodies and fan fiction that is taken on a whole new level of smutty fun This book is a collection of stories that celebrates beloved classics genres and not so great stories and acknowledge them through parodies And what better way to make fun of them but drizzle them with loads of sarcasm and dirty shenanigans So if you are looking for a fun I really try not to rip into a book but this was way out of the realm of just bad I thought there would be humor and I did not find anything humorous Maybe this could be for you but I definitely is not for meThank you netgalley for a copy in lieu of my hon 304
