Cent’anni dopo, le due teorie della relatività – la relatività ristretta del 1905 e la relatività generale del 1915, poi pubblicata nel 1916 – sono entrate a pieno diritto nel sapere comune e persino nella nostra vita quotidiana. Le idee proposte in quegli scritti originali, all’inizio del Novecento – orologi che rallentano il loro corso, spazi che si deformano, raggi luminosi che si piegano – non sono più appannaggio di pochi, sono a tutti gli effetti parte integrante della nostra vita. Pochissimi scienziati potrebbero vantare un primato simile.
