Albert Bernard Feldstein was an American writer editor and artist best known for his work at EC Comics and from 1956 to 1985 as the editor of the satirical magazine Mad After retiring from Mad Feldstein concentrated on American paintings of Western wildlife. Haunt of fear annuala and 5 and in FULL COLOR Many of these stories served as the basis for the TV series TALES FROM THE CRYPT Each issue contains four stories illustrated by artists like Jack Davis Graham Ingels Jack Kamen and other giants of comic book art These are stories of horror suspense and terror guaranteed to please the most finicky horror fan Haunt of Fear Annual 3I m a huge fan of the old EC horror comics so the five star rating is almost a given A few things of not about this volume I m usually a Jack Davis and Jack Kamen fan but Graham Ingells really was the MVP on this volume as he did most of the covers and he really seemed to be at the top of his game We got to see the origin of the Old Witch which was similar yet different than the origin of the Crypt Keeper As I read through these volumes I recognize some of the stories that were adapted for the TV series Tales from the Crypt In this one volume I found a story that was in the original Tales from the Crypt movie from the 1970s which was pretty cool Overall a very entertaining volume and a great choice to read on Halloween If you are a horror comic fan and haven t checked out EC Comics you really should It s not big on long psychological drama or deep character development but the quality of the art and the twists in the stories really set the bar and tone for all horror comics that came later Al Feldstein
