I ve enjoyed this series but this installment fell a bit flat for me Probably due to the missing Hank Bannon still incommunicado after getting Stannis Renko the Serbian crime lord out of the country after the action of the 2nd book Lee Sharpe one of Maisie s brothers friends and a fellow law enforcement guy takes the center stage and love interest of sorts this go around. Shoot em up book Much of the action takes place in Mexico as Maisie attempts to continue her undercover work hoping that she can pull off acting as Mrs Renko and taking over Stannis s empire in his absence I m glad that Maisie isn t completely inept like a certain bailbonds employee from a different series Still some of this is quite a stretch even so the idea that Maisie s family doesn t seem to realize she s doing the undercover work A house full of police officers and lawyers and no one has an inkling Hm. Shoot em up nun What I liked about Shoot em Up This was my introduction to Maisie McGrane yes I should have read the first two books prior to this one and it was enjoyable Maisie is an amazing character despite her than occasional drug use who gets into and out of a number of precarious situations If you like crime and mystery coupled with a strong female protagonist give Janey Mack s Shoot em Up and the rest of the Maisie McGrane series a try What I didn t like about Shoot em Up As mentioned above the drug use was a bit much for me and some of the violence was gratuitous Those detracted from the story for me.
