In this companion to ABC Dream Kim Krans elevates the simple activity of counting with pen and ink drawings of unusual animals and scenes of natural beauty Delicate watercolor accents an infusion of all embracing spirituality and an engrossing search and find element make this enchanting book a collectible for all ages 123 DreamWhat a beautiful 1 20 counting book I had to read a review to realize that it also has alliteration four foxes five fish etc And there are things to make you think like four rabbits on the 8 page there are 8 ears and a seek and find list at the end for further inspection Kim Krans illustrations are detailed edge to edge pen and ink drawings with touches of watercolor 48 I received a free review copy of this book from the publisher through my district library services This is not a simple picture book The illustrations are gorgeous and take work to think through than your typical counting book The numbers and their pictures alliterate and the end pages list hidden pictures to search for 48 A Baker s Dozen 2017A beautiful illustrated counting book that counts from 1 20 I enjoyed how alliteration was used to coordinate the number and counted illustrations such as six snakes fourteen feathers sixteen strawberries All the illustrations depict either flora or fauna and on the last page it challenges the reader to look for objects among the previous pages 48 KransKim 1 2 3 Dreams 2016 Kim Krans s counting book is beautifully detailed in ink and watercolor It is like looking at a meditative coloring book but there is no need to pick up a marker This isn t a distraction from the concept of the book I found myself putting my finger on the animals feathers or insects verifying the large number on the two page spread There is no text to the book which I attribute to the tranquil feeling I get when I look at the intricately inked illustrations I can visualize a parent cuddled up next to their child at nap or bedtime and a little finger pressing down and softly counting the objects I would recommend this book to preschoolers through kindergarten 48 I love it but the kids never choose it off my growing Kindle library that we read together via Facetime 48
