Getting away with it paroles The reader sees right off that not everything is as great for Darcy as she wants the people around her to believe She is obsessed with keeping up appearances Also she is obsessed with yet despises her husband hates him for cheating and yet cheats herself when given the opportunity Still the lengths she goes to to exact revenge and get away with ahem everything she does astonished me A part of me felt sorry for her and I wondered if in different circumstances if she d married a different man who had treated her better if she wouldn t have gone off the deep end the way she did But for the most part I didn t like Darcy She seemed obsessed with her husband not in love with him her pride offended by his lack of devotion to her than her heart hurt and she didn t seem to like or respect herself very much I kept wishing she d just put her big girl pants on and leave him then make him suffer for the rest of his life with a hefty alimony payment It would be interesting to see the diagnosis if a mental health doctor were to analyze Darcy s fictional character. Getting away with it lyrics erin kinsey There were some typos in the text to name one Never allow anyone embarrass you without your consent the to that I think is supposed to be there is missing If there s a reason why it s missing I m not sure what it is There are also other typos here and there throughout the book The book would be attractive to people especially women who have been slighted and want to exact revenge vicariously through Darcy since they can t or won t in real life for various reasons ranging from having a good old fashioned conscience to the simple fear of punishment Both of which Darcy lacks I wish I could give this book a higher rating but the ending feels very jarring to me and implausible a kind of tacked on Deus ex Machina type of ending that feels kind of rushed and forced I have read endings that are surprising but that in hindsight make sense and feel natural But this simply feels rather put there by the author instead of being an organic extension of the plot There were multiple sexual situations in the story and a great deal of gore torture and extreme violence Science Fiction Romance Mystery All she wanted was a little RESPECT I enjoy a good revenge novel and boy was this one Everyone knows that one perfect couple who appear to have it all But behind closed doors their perfect world isn t so perfect Well meet Darcy and Tom Logan She knows he cheating hates him can t or won t leave him and she is just a little bit crazy She goes to great lengths to make him stay faithful but in the end a leopard never changes his spots I loved the pace of this book from start to finish Ms Mae does an excellent job of drawing in the reader I just wish Darcy didn t resort to some of the things she does and just packed her bags and left And then endOMG You have to read it for yourself Science Fiction Romance Mystery GAWI or Getting Away With It is a soap opera revenge fantasy with a some fundamental problems The story takes place in a wealthy exclusive community that values public image over everything else The protagonist and narrator is Darcy who is consumed by her plans for revenge on her cheating husband The story is absolutely crammed full of lies backstabbing infidelity blackmail and violence The primary character comes off like a budding psychopath who is bragging to the reader about her technique. Cheating and getting away with it reddit There are a number of issues The dialog sounds unnatural as if the characters are sketches from a soap opera rather than real people All men will cheat with anyone they can get The women do the same in order to hurt their rivals or because once being approached they are incapable of resisting Given the fact that nearly every character leaps into infidelity without a second thought the central theme of being driven to commit horrendous crimes in a desperate attempt to preserve a perfectly pure public image seems unbelievable Everyone knows who is involved with whom so fabricating the image is pointless. Getting away with murder book age rating One of the main troubles I had with Getting Away With It was relating to the protagonist I had trouble grasping why she would get so spiteful after getting cheated on Sure some people react very badly to that but usually it s in a heat of the moment I m going to key up your car kind of way This was not only premeditated but very carefully planned as thoroughly as the protagonist could manage I honestly spent of the book being terrified of her ability to hide behind smiles and pull out a gun while still keeping her 50 s housewife vibe going on It seemed like a look into the mind of a serial killer than a story about someone who had been pushed to the edge I also struggled with the plotting of the story Our protagonist acted like she had everything plotted out in fine detail and yet she kept getting tripped up by one thing after another And then at the end she mentioned how it was all ending exactly the way she had always envisioned it I had no idea how she could have envisioned it that way considering that so many things had been out of her control She d changed her plans on the fly way too many times for it to end according to plan so it made me unsure of if there even had been a plan or just a fantasy I never completely learned what the plan truly was so I was never really sure whether it was accomplished or not The narrative also jumped around between times a lot so it was hard to tell when things were happening in this plan However it was a fun read despite being hard to keep up with The pacing kept things moving quick so I didn t get too bogged down with trying to figure out the logistical aspects of it all My favorite parts were probably when the girlfriends would sit down and talk together They were all hiding so many secrets from each other and they kept pulling tricks to try and trip each other up which was entertaining The element of how everything was perfect on the surface and rotted underneath was probably the best element of this story and it was definitely what kept me reading from page to page I have to knock it down a couple stars simply because the plot holes were too much for me The ending not to spoil anything feels very rushed and last minute and almost like it s dragging sci fi elements into a story that previously had no mention whatsoever of sci fi or fantasy That aside it raises so many philosophical and ethical questions for me Overall a fun read but don t get too invested in everything being explained because it won t be I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Science Fiction Romance Mystery
