Frisked in Fondant (Tulle and Tulips) By Nikki Duncan Kindle Edition Contemporary Frisked in Fondant (Tulle and Tulips) A kiss by any other name would never taste as sweet as his. Tulle and Tulips, Book 6 When Gisella Sands isn’t busy creating magical wedding cakes, she shows the outside world the lighthearted, teasing manner that fools everyone, even her friends at Tulle and Tulips. Once she’s home alone with her cats, the façade falls away. No one would guess that her tragic past is her only companion in the night. Or that this confectionary genius has never tasted the sweetness of a man’s kiss. The less Kyle Riley talks, the others fill the silence—a handy skill for a homicide detective, not so much for a social life. Dedicated to his job, he’s never been tempted to take than one taste of any woman. Until he responds to a home invasion and finds Gisella, the bridesmaid he walked down the aisle at a friend’s wedding, bleeding on the floor. In a heartbeat, all thoughts of keeping his professional distance disintegrate. But when the heat melts the walls guarding their secrets, their recipe for one perfect night could fall flat. Warning: Contains a man who rarely strings than fifteen syllables together, and a woman who can read him like a cookbook. When strong and silent meets sweet and bubbly, something’s bound to boil over.

Frisked with Fondant s book cover is beautiful just like the other covers in the series I enjoyed this novella although it was much bleaker than I expected Gisella and Kyle are hot together and their sexy times are replete with desire and passion Overall this is a quick and engaging read with some twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley Frisked in Fondant Tulle and Tulips Gisella and Kyle are no strangers to one another having met at a recent wedding reception for another match made in heaven When Kyle a homicide detective is suddenly called to another home burglarized and homeowner injured he never expected to find that Gisella is the victim Knowing he should stay away Kyle can t help but move in closer and protect this beautiful woman. Injured and terrified Gisella is living in her own nightmare When a familiar face swoops into her kitchen her fear eases especially when he breaks protocol to stay overnight with her Not expecting anything she can t help the feelings that are blossoming What develops is such a sweet and romantic story It however has a dark theme one that parallels Gisella s past Both Gisella and Kyle are very strong characters The dialogue between them is so realistic and believable that the reader will feel like they are standing next to the couple Nikki Duncan really brings her characters to life Everyone has baggage of some sort it s how you handle your baggage that can make or break a relationship Talking about the problems analyzing them and working through them make relationships stronger Fortunately Nikki has the skills to pull her romantic couples from the edge of despair and give them the love story that they deserve. Nikki Duncan does a fabulous job uniting her characters with their perfect matches The story of Gisella and Kyle is engaging and kept me interested from the very beginning The continued character development and world building in the Tulle and Tulips series makes this a must read series Review copy courtesy of the author at no cost in exchange for an honest review Frisked in Fondant Tulle and Tulips Frisked in Fondant (Tulle and Tulips) I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads In such a short novel there is no time for an HEA but we do get an HFN which is better The leads met a little while ago and so have some history which also makes the events much believable These things matter in shorter novels as rushing is not always sexy We get plenty of context and enough detail about their pasts to make this a well rounded story The snippets about Gisella s friends will have me reading of these books that is for sure Frisked in Fondant Tulle and Tulips Frisked in Fondant is book six in the Tulle and Tulips series by Nikki Duncan It can be read as a standalone. Gisella creates beautiful wedding cakes and thoroughly enjoys it Her friends love her for her carefree light hearted manner she lives Or that s what she wants them to believe Underneath it all is a girl with a tragic past and no one has ever gotten too close because of it When a rash of home invasions hit Gisella s neighborhood she s invaded and after being injured lives another day When the paramedics are helping her she s on anxiety overload until super detective Kyle walks into her kitchen She immediately calms at his slightest touch. Kyle has always stayed on the straight and narrow Never has he bent professional rules until he sees Gisella on the floor of her kitchen after an attack bleeding It seems like yesterday they were both attendants in a friend s wedding All professionalism aside he knows he feels a need to protect Gisella He was attracted to her from the get go and now seeing her like this He has to let her know how he feels Will she let him in What a sweet romantic read Gisella and Kyle were believeable characters Both felt their connection at the wedding and when their paths cross again neither wants to let go I felt bad for Gisella and was taken by Kyle s soft soothing touch He was very sweet and loving towards her How could Gisella say no 3. 5 stars 3 flamesI was gifted this book by the Jeep Diva for the express purpose of an honest review The rating and review are solely my opinion and in no way was I compensated Frisked in Fondant Tulle and Tulips I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. Not having read any of the previous installments in this series or any of this author s work I still found myself unable to pass up Frisked in Fondant because the blurb was just too appealing After finishing it I m very happy that I didn t say no to it because Gisella and Kyle s story proved to be even enjoyable than I expected Even though it s clear that the two are barely than passing acquaintances having been paired together in a mutual friend s wedding the connection between them is undeniable But rather than creating an insta lust or insta love feel to the novella Kyle s presence gives Gisella a sense of safety and security she hasn t experienced since her parents deaths when she was a child That Gisella discover this when he s called to the scene of a home invasion and discovers that she is the victim of an extremely violent attack proves tricky as he is the lead detective on the case Duncan s ability to establish such a powerful connection between the two without falling into the insta love trap was quite impressive. I enjoyed Kyle s inner struggles as for the first time in his career he was finding it impossible to keep his personal feelings out of his professional duties I also enjoyed that while he did this he didn t suddenly become the overly sensitive male we frequently see in romances He did have his moments of sensitivity such as when he asked his father How s it make you feel when Mom walks in the room But they were along the lines I would expect of a man in his job and with the past the author provided including the broken nose he delivered toward the end of the book The sexual chemistry between them is steamy and I liked how the author treated Gisella s inexperience I was further impressed by how Duncan was able to make Gisella s attack and tragic past powerful without being graphic in the details I might enjoy reading dark and violent romances but it wasn t appropriate for this one and I appreciated the authors decision not to take it there The author s handling of the crime spree felt realistic and I liked the way it played out All in all I found Frisked in Fondant to be a thoroughly enjoyable read giving me depth and character connection than I expected to find in a novella of its length enough so that I found its length to be irrelevant as it was a whole story I look forward to checking out the other books in the Tulle and Tulips series Frisked in Fondant Tulle and Tulips Blend a beautiful baker with a sprinkle of sexy cop and a dash of danger and you get the sexy confection Frisked In Fondant by Nikki Duncan This is 6 in Duncan s Tulle and Tulips series but can be read as a stand alone Kyle Riley homicide detective shows up to investigate a home invasion only to find the victim is someone he knows When he sees Gisella Sands the luscious woman he met at his friend s wedding bleeding and injured he knows he can t walk away from her this time This is a short sweet sexy read I enjoyed the sparks between the two characters and will definitely be reading in this series I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review Frisked in Fondant Tulle and Tulips Slick s review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book ReviewsI ve loved Nikki Duncan s Tule and Tulips series from the start and Frisked in Fondant is another exciting story but this one has some pretty heavy undertones yet it also extremely hopeful. When cake designer Gisella Sands is the victim of a home invasion she is surprised but comforted when Kyle Riley is the detective in charge of her case Having met him at their friend s mutual wedding and sharing a moment she hasn t seen him since but when he arrives she immediately feels safe and comforted These two are an interesting pair and Kyle definitely pushed the professionalism envelope while investigating the crime against Gisella and sleeping in her bed but his heart is in the right place Gisella s story is not a pretty one and there is no doubt she had some issues but she is also a survivor.
