The Between (Earth Exiles #3) By Mark Harritt Kindle Edition Science Fiction The Between (Earth Exiles #3) Hunted through the mountains, Mike and the team are faced with an unrelenting enemy. In a bid to save the innocents, Mike and his team might have to sacrifice everything, including any chance they might have of making it home. With a growing threat, they face betrayal within and without, and old enemies may become unwilling and unwitting allies. Book the therapist 227 Harritt is awesome The only bad thing about this book was getting to the end of it I recommend Harritt to readers who love military adventure with a sci fi anything can happen twist You won t be disappointed 227 I can t say enough good things about this book And although I thought the series was going to stop at three books the author is already working on book 4 welcome news for fans As the series progresses it is increasingly critical to have read the previous books before starting a new one that is about the only criticism I can come up with Since Harritt gave us so much background on the grey men in book 2 this is not repeated in book 3 although we do spend a considerably larger amount of time among them seeing the story from their point of view The characters among that group are every bit as engaging as the original team and Matki s tribe members if in my opinion somewhat less likable A f ew questions get answered here but are raised especially regarding the major portion of the team that s been left behind at their headquarters Some alarming things have been going on back at the ranch and by the end of the book there is a new challenge all of the time traveling crew will face as well as new potential partnerships that may be forming I look forward to the next book very much 227 I read this series over the weekend Distant Shores Eden s Children and The Between I really liked it The bad guys are bad the good guys are good and the McGuffin is plausible A 5 man Spec Ops team is sent to a DARPA location in Wyoming the North Koreans nuke Beijing everyone nukes everyone and the team finds themselves in a fight with dragons From there it gets really interesting As they struggle to survive in a hostile place they wonder what kind of a future they have and whether they can ever get home again I d recommend it to anyone who likes military sci fi Beyond that I will hide the rest of my comments because they might spoil the story for people who haven t read it yet But I found myself physically anxious for the team caught up in their conflicts and hoping for the best I can t wait to read the next book They find themselves working on mechs 15 foot tall mechanical weapon systems They come with lasers and rail guns They find themselves a billion years in the future with the planet peopled by alien descendants of humans dragons killer robots amid a great game of interstellar intrigue Separated from their families and loved ones by that much time the spec ops team security team and engineers of the mech project try to carve a new life They make friends with natives They fight the alien human slavers They prepare for a guerrilla war with the aliens The series to this point ends with another cliff hanger at some misty northern place almost to modern Canada I guess I m hoping that they got some good information from the slaver s servers some good weapons from the towers and a few cargo airships One knows that their knowledge of ancient culture is very valuable in the wider galaxy and I can imagine that if they make it long enough they can trade some of their internet snapshot for security Okay I d like to pick a nit The Mechs have powerful lasers But when the dragons stack tree trunks against the wall they don t use them like a big honking chain saw to cut the logs down so they won t be as much of a threat I have the idea that these are like lasik lasers than nasty weapons they don t seem any effective than the shields in Star Trek 227 Great read This is the their book in this series and it did not disappoint Fast paced good character development Look forward to 227

Nice to see how and why Mike wants to protect those he thinks are under his protection Also good to have him grounded with good friends: The gap between fantasy and reality Really like how there is some checks and balances in the few humans that are left Especially when they check Mike s priorities. Can t wait for 4 5 6
