They traveled in close knit packs their throats marked with ancient runes Their greatest enemies were the ugly and brutal harpies that people today mistake for gargoyles After surviving a fire Courage needs to find a lass with the power of magic to heal his terrible scars When he runs across Lorissa Burns he thinks the redhead is the perfect girl for the job But when her touch fails to heal him he can t figure it out Lorissa Burns is a witch sure enough even though she doesn t know it She s even performed magic before unwittingly Will her magic be enough to heal the once beautiful gargoyle And when danger threatens the two teenagers will it be enough to save their lives Courage Greystone 8 stars Well this one gave me mixed feelings I was really looking forward to finding out what happened to Courage too But it definitely didn t live up to my expectations Maybe I ve outgrown this series I will finish it but I feel like the books have not been getting better as we go along The number one disappointment for me in this one came from the emphasis on looks and the absolutely HORRID behavior of Lorissa and even Courage to a degree over Courage s burns I m seriously sick of the society in which we live where a burned face is not viewed with compassion but rather disgust and reluctance I mean Lissa thinks he s only interested in her plain jane self because he has those burns I m not even going to go into it but needless to say I was appalled by some of her thoughts and some of the things she says and Courage as well I really thought with what Courage went through the love interest would be someone sweet and above it all you know That wasn t quite Lissa. Courageous Now once the whole burn stuff was set aside and they were getting to know one another I thought they were pretty cute together I loved the way Courage would tease and how earnest he seemed I really felt how enraptured he was by Lissa even if I wasn t as enraptured and there were some sweet moments. Courageless This is another one of those books where we really didn t get a lot of time with the pack other than Defiance And Defiance isn t exactly my fave I thought the conflict and continuation of the Olander stuff was intriguing and I m wondering what is left for Havoc. Courage under fire All in all there were good moments but unfortunately they came after I was kind of turned off So I m probably going to round down sigh I don t have as much hope for Havoc now I wonder if the author just wanted to get them finished Young Adult Literature Fiction Romance Loved it This is just another great book in this incredible series I love how unique the story line was compared to the rest of the series I will definitely read this book again Young Adult Literature Fiction Romance I particularly liked Courage as he doesn t rush into things without thinking and he avoids trouble if he can with no ego involved I think he may actually be my favourite gargoyle I also liked that Lorissa was a bad witch and found how it happened totally believable Their romance was also really cute I have noticed that I tend to prefer the books told from the girls POV rather than the gargoyles Young Adult Literature Fiction Romance Another short and cute gargoyle romance Not gonna go in depth here but will say that Taylor Longford has left me smiling once again It was just too cute. Kindle core It s been a while since I read the first books of the series I may have to go back and reread at some point But I remember that I always flip flopped with the first six as well I liked the first one but then I liked the second one better Then I also liked the third one but bumped it back up and liked the fourth one better than the third That pattern seems to be holding I enjoyed the seventh book Force but I liked Courage s story better He was a flirt but only with Lorissa So a loyal flirt Are they real I need one if they are Lol He s also different from his brothers and cousins in that he s less prone to violence even though he s the one that might have the worst temper when he does lose it But he only loses it at really really really bad people At least that s my take on it So again another short read that I am pleased to have purchased There were still grammatical issues Words missing a beginning quotation mark not included And again they didn t take away my enjoyment but there were still enough that I took note But they re not so bad as to make me stumble and have to reread the sentence Half the time I m remembering it s just a word like a which you kind of know is supposed to be there and you probably read it correctly in your head even though the word is still missing from the text Anyway you guys know I have to mention that Always do because if it s bad enough the errors will ruin a story for me even a good story But that s not the case here. Young adult courses In any case four solid stars for making me smile and grin and at one point almost laugh aloud in my cubicle at work I should really be working Young Adult Literature Fiction Romance Great bookGreat continuation of the story and it s own story in its own right Can t wait for the next book Great characters Young Adult Literature Fiction Romance
