Harry Bonneville suffers from recurring dreams A woman calls for help but all he ever sees is an impenetrable grey mist He has no idea that he is being summoned by the ancient goddess Astarte and that she is imprisoned 2000 years in the past This exciting time travel fantasy adventure follows the determined detective Harry Bonneville the incredible infrasound mapping pioneer Professor Rowan Forrest and the brilliant Dr Rosa Almeida as they struggle to carry out the strangest rescue mission of all time Blending time travel fantasy with humour but still delivering a punch there are colourful characters to meet some mortal and others unforgettably supernatural The story begins at the Ceridwen Hotel in London where the formidable Frau Schalke the Western Valkyrie offers solace to the living and the dead Harry and Prof are two of her mortal guests and have become firm friends They are about to experience life changing events which see them projected back in time to rescue a missing American Agent and a fragment of the unearthly time entity called the Time Faeder To prevent temporal contamination they re armed only with three infrasound devices and given strict instructions to never alter the timelines They struggle to survive and achieve their goals in the midst of a landscape that is beginning to witness the terrifying return of forgotten gods and their followers Harry s dreams become increasingly vivid as he is drawn ever closer towards Astarte who lies trapped beneath the ruined temple of Baal Berith Often funny sometimes moving never staying still for long this is book one of The Infrasonic Detective series Astarte Rising The Infrasonic Detective Book 1 This was a unique book for me I can t think of another I have read that is quite like it That being said I don t normally read a lot of time travel books I am as fascinated as anyone else on the effects of the all powerful butterfly but generally I find time travel books either too confusing or too paradoxical This one I just found entertaining It s somewhat of a mixture between sci fi and fantasy which I thought would be rather silly and much too convoluted when I read the description but I am pleasantly surprised to say I didn t find it so I actually enjoyed most of the characters in the book although I found Rosa to be somewhat overbearing and at parts I had an intense dislike of her but that just shows that the author was able to make me connect with his character and you simply can t fault him for that. Book Astarte rising Congratulations to Mr Thomas for such a great first book that was both entertaining and immersive I would definitely recommend this book to time travel enthusiasts who also enjoy a dash of fantasy thrown in for a magical experience Astarte Rising The Infrasonic Detective Book 1 I just wrote a review And it got lost Anyway this is an action adventure read based on the premise of the discovery of a time travel source or Time Faeder Having not read a book of this kind in ages I thought it was great I always rate a book highly that I could see as a film and this would be brilliant. Book Astarte rising sun A lot of characters in this but the main ones I liked were Harry and Rosa Add some zombies brought to life by an evil demon and the rise of Astarte and you have a cracking read Highly recommend Astarte Rising The Infrasonic Detective Book 1
