A companion guide to enrich your experience of Churchill War Rooms on your visit and to build on that experience when you return home Churchill War Rooms GuidebookThe best part of a visit to the Churchill War Rooms is the space devoted to the Churchill Museum which tells his life story and includes many items linked to his long and interesting life When we visited on a cold January morning even though visitors were fewer than usual the room was too crowded for us to see everything We therefore missed exploring The Churchill Lifeline an interactive table that is described as a living biography There were mounted pairs of binoculars through which I suppose interesting things might have been seen if there hadn t been somebody hogging the only pair high enough for even a stooping adult The museum needs space or visitor numbers should be limited So it was good to have the guidebook to read about what we couldn t see The book tells the history of the War Rooms describes the rooms one by one and tells of Churchill s life It is well illustrated The text is repetitive though containing numerous insets with quotes and snippets interrupting the narrative often misplaced chronologically and the book is flimsily bound the cover is falling off my copy after a single reading 190489755X This was quite the fantastic companion for after my visit to the Churchill War Rooms and it would have helped had I read it before Since the museum is so big it s quite impossible to see everything and still have time to do other things in London so the guide was helpful to understand and learn about the rooms besides what I managed to see during the visit I found it extremely interesting specially the part about how the rooms were made 190489755X A marvelous companion to your visit to the war rooms I read them before my visit and this guide book helped me understand deeply the things I saw and it also helped me to appreciate all the exhibitions and objects on display as well has the story behind all 190489755X This was such an amazing book to read I learned so much and loved all the first person accounts The photos were fantastic If I get to London I m sure going to visit this place Very surprised that the leaders didn t have protection during the war 190489755X This came with our fascinating visit to Churchill War room recently It is a through accompaniment to the museum which history buffs and curiosity seekers can devour The experience was one we savoured and the Guidebook will be a reminder of a half day well spent in London 190489755X
