This was one of the most boring books I have ever read These essays were pointless for a college student to read it would only make sense to read if one of the essays was in your field of study A lot of the material was very dense and was not written for people that had no previous background on the subjects If I could give this zero stars I would Reading this entire book was torture 9781476662206 In this collection of essays we get an examination of Star Wars as a franchise looked at as a cultural transformer but also transformed by culture Does Star Wars merely reflect our culture Or is our culture come to be reflected in Star Wars This is kind of a silly question since Star Wars is part of culture Rather here we see how Star Wars messily mixes with various other horizons of interaction so that this book goes a long way in delineating what is Star Wars how has it changed and what is it doing Most of the essays seem to take a historic view grounding the motion in the past but not really trying to predict the future but instead seeing the missing participation of Star Wars such as how the Bedouin have been appropriated as part of our culture or how images of the female through Princess Leia have deployed masculinity in Star Wars in a particular way with or without adverse repercussions in NASA and space travel images All in all a pretty interesting reflection 9781476662206
