Just like watching an event on television Still it held my interest but I don t think I will read the sequel The Blue Pendant The Sackville Hotel Trilogy 1 Anna is leaving home to work in a hotel and is enjoying her first adventure to leave home She meets Alex Bill They both fall in love with her and she is returning the feelings She says yes to Alex and they stay at the hotel with the Great War on and Alex is called to serve Bill is turned down so he leaves the hotel and they don t see him again for years She is working directly for the manager and he tries to attack her Alex comes home from the war with muster gas poisoning Anna wants to travel and find adventure Alex goes off making decisions for both of them without asking Anna Their life thru the years is up and down Bill comes back and stays with them and keeps a friendship going with them but nothing There are so many things that happen to them over the years In reading it you are always wondering what will happen next The Blue Pendant The Sackville Hotel Trilogy 1 It s 1913 and times are changing.

I had seen this book as a recommendation based on various other books that I ve read which were of a similar nature Therefore I decided to give it a try and purchased this book through When I first began reading this book I was instantly smitten with the story of Anna Neale as a Front Desk Receptionist at the Sackville Hotel during the late 19th to early 20th centuries As I began to read deeper I learned of the various trials and tribulations that Anna faced starting with her roommate Sophie then Mr Pickles whom made her life a living nightmare Anna also encountered a number of friends whom included Bill Alex and Lady Thornton whom made her time at the Sackville Hotel a memorable yet happy one The author takes us on a journey through Anna s life as we then learn what happens to her during the Great War 1914 1918 as well as during World War II 1939 1945 Anna becomes a heroine as she learns how to navigate the world of men while she settles down to lead her own life blossoming into a mature young woman Bouncing from one profession to another Anna proves how her intelligence is best used in the working world despite being forced into a life of domesticity I admired Anna and was intrigued to read how her life would pane out as she was faced with a variety of situations Overall this book kept me on my toes as I wanted to read about Anna s life with each turn on the roller coaster bringing me closer to learning of her true desires Would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an excellent story complete with highly developed characters and beautiful scenery to make you bask in the sunshine wherever you may be I can t wait to read the sequel to this book I ve already purchased it through as we speak The Blue Pendant The Sackville Hotel Trilogy 1 Covering a period of almost 34 years from 1913 onwards this is quite an interesting story The author s writing is good but I found it a little too matter of fact It s like a journalists report or news coverage of an historical event It didn t really have the soft flow of a novel I never felt that I was in the story but not fast enough for nineteen year old Anna as she dares to seek adventurous independence Inspired by her uncle and his gift of a blue pendant from India.
