How the irish became white book review First the things I liked about the book the story line this was a good ending to the overarching plot that ran through the three books the characters we saw a bit of the familiar characters as they continued to work with Trevor and Julie the focus of this story I liked Trevor when we met him in the previous book but Matthews gave him depth and development in this novel as he took a active role as they neared the end of their hunt for the Prophet We also meet Julie for the first time a scientist with the CDC who has a past with Trevor and the skills he needs to unravel and hopefully stop the Prophet s plans I think Matthews does a good job on character development and on crafting a unique story line Sadly there are also things I didn t like as much in this book The biggest one was the relationship development between Trevor and Julie They fight an attraction throughout the book and they have a history to draw upon but I felt like at the end they dropped all their reservations and complaints without a reason It seemed like she got to the end of the story and had to put them together so she did but it was forced There should have been at least one serious conversation between the two about getting past the issues that were holding them apart I know in some cases the fear of death or losing someone can make previous reserves seem unimportant but I just felt there was something missing in their final and sudden never mind let s get married moment I think they would and should have gotten there but it was missing something to make it believable The other thing I didn t like and this is a spoiler it was too obvious that the company s name was White Iris Because this was the name of the book it immediately told me that Hamilton was the bad guy And though his actions would have led me to suspect that anyway I wouldn t have necessarily known he was the prophet Matthews did a good job of dropping hints about Dalton and showing Becca s photo in the hallway for Trevor to see I liked that he and Julie kept sensing something familiar about Becca and Dalton but not quite knowing what it was But because of the White Iris name I knew that Hamilton was the one they were looking for and that took some of the thrill of guessing away for me I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Susanne Matthews Third book of the Harvester trilogy wrapped things up nicely Only thing I feel it could have used was an epilogue Susanne Matthews Did not finishToo technical and descriptive Susanne Matthews Susanne Matthews grew up as an avid reader of all types of books but always with a penchant for happily ever after romances In her imagination she travelled to foreign lands past and present and soared into the future Today she has made her dreams come true A retired educator she now gets to spend her time writing so she can share her adventures with her readers She loves the ins and outs of romance and the complex journey it takes to get from the first word to the last period of a novel As she writes her characters take on a life of their own and she shares their fears and agonies on the road to self discovery and love Susanne lives in Cornwall Ontario with her husband She has three adult children and five grandchildren Susanne Matthews grew up as an avid reader of all types of books but always with a penchant for happily ever after romances In her imagination she travelled to foreign lands past and present and soared into the future Today she has made her dreams come true A retired educator she now gets to spend her time writing so she can share her adventures with her readers She loves the ins and outs of romance and the complex journey it takes to get from the first word to the last period of a novel As she writes her characters take on a life of their own and she shares their fears and agonies on the road to self discovery and love Susanne lives in Cornwall Ontario with her husband She has three adult children and five grandchildren When she isn t writing she enjoys reading chatting on the Internet with her writer friends and hearing from her readers site_link The White Iris (The Harvester #3).
