La realización a lo largo de tres años de Fraternity –que recoge los dos volúmenes publicados en Francia que componen la serie– no ha sido fácil, tal y como reconoce José Luis Munuera, una obra que el dibujante murciano ubica dentro del subgénero específico de aventura ideológica que han transitado con brillo Oesterheld, Muñoz y Sampayo, Pierre Christin o Felipe Hernández Cava. El tebeo navega entre aguas muy diferentes, del fantástico a la utopía política, del discurso ético al drama, y estaba además el elemento romántico. Meter todo eso en un mismo saco y que se sostuviese con la necesaria unidad orgánica fue un quebradero de cabeza tremendo, asegura el dibujante de El juego de la luna. Juan Díaz Canales, inmerso en la búsqueda de un marco histórico convincente y a la vez atractivo para situar el guión que tratara preguntas sobre si es posible la convivencia en igualdad de condiciones, deberes y derechos o si es posible que el ser humano alcance un modelo social que garantice la igualdad, dio con la historia de New Harmony, una comuna creada y financiada por el socialista utópico Robert Owen en 1825 en Indiana: Nuestra New Fraternity es un trasunto un poco anacrónico de aquella experiencia y gran parte de los personajes de nuestra historia son reflejos más o menos deformados de algunos de los actores de aquella aventura utópica, confiesa el también guionista de Blacksad. Encontrar el registro gráfico adecuado fue efectivamente todo un reto, tanto por la dificultad que planteaba el jugoso guión del madrileño Díaz Canales con un tempo, que de lo contemplativo, de lo relajado, va acelerándose hasta el clímax final, como por la necesidad de tratar de controlar –añade Munuera– mi tendencia al cartoon muy sobreactuado para que los personajes no chirriasen. El entendimiento, también creativo, entre guionista, dibujante y colorista –cuidado trabajo del baracaldés Sedyas–, y la pasión volcada por todos ellos para dar con el tono adecuado, se ven refrendados por la solidez del resultado.

Fraternity definition Story wise there isn t a great deal in here An American Minotaur threatens a seemingly peaceful community a mute wild child is somehow involved and soon everything begins to fall apart Very few of the characters involved were any interesting or reasonably fleshed out and even the sympathetic ones tend to end up suddenly going bad towards the end Juan D az Canales I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley.
Fraternity hazing This was an interesting read and definitely good for October but almost every person in it is just awful and it s a little bit depressing than I would have liked Even so I did like the ending and thought it was very fitting The art was good and the color palette matched the mood very well but I think it could have maybe been just a touch less cartoonish and really leaned into the dark nature of the whole thing Juan D az Canales What a weird weird story Fraternity stars a utopian community that harbors a mute young boy and a lot of argumentative old white dudes The mute boy meets a demon in a labyrinth and thenwell nothing really happens The old white dudes hate the boy and demon and also some black soldiers There are a few sympathetic characters I think but we never really get to know them enough to know why we should care about them Honestly that s the case for all these characters The story seems to start in act three as if the weird introductory letter is enough to carry us through acts one and two.
Fraternity hotel paris The art is fine at least but let me be clear Juan Diaz Canales Blacksad series is one of my all time favorites and Fraternity s uniformly brown art doesn t hold a candle to that And the plot is even farther from Blacksad s skillful story weaving Fraternity is a bland weird read if you haven t encountered Blacksad If you have read Blacksad and you liked it avoid Fraternity at all costs so you don t ruin your impression of Juan Diaz Canales.
