This is a well written well translated essay on the Venetian Campi neighborhoods or squares and how they provided a unique social setting for the Venetian people They are unfortunately in danger of disappearing due to over commercialism and unrestricted tourism so the point of the essay is that the Italian government needs to value this way of life and help it survive It was an interesting read and enjoyable although I ll admit that I m not convinced it is quite as idyllic as the author suggests The Venetian Campo Ideal setting for social life and community Eye on Venice Book 24
