I Have a WorryI am so very pleased to be writing a review of this amazing book I have a Worry is an extraordinary unprecedented children s book that explores the concept of having a worry by personifying the Worry into a real tangible thing being This along with the incredibly accessible choice of language and tone as well as childlike and related drawings featuring a unisex main character allows for the exploration of what a worry feels like how the worry affects a child s life and how the child can seek help and support through having a worry It also normalises the incredibly isolating feeling of having a worry for a child and opens up avenues of conversation with parents teachers and peers I am a mum to a rather anxious three year old a tutor to a variety of wonderful human children and adolescents whose biggest obstacle at times is their internalised anxiety surrounding their academic life and a psychology student looking to specialise and that has a deep interest in childhood and adolescent development From all these perspectives and that of an avid book reader this book has flown straight to the top of my recommendations list and book list to work with kids I could not give Tanya Balcke enough praise for her incredible piece of work and can only hope to achieve a similar response when I one day write my own children s books Thank you Tanya this book is outstanding I Have a Worry
