As well as solve the murder of his wife Dave writes a compelling novel with quick twists and turns to keep the reader interested At roughly 230 pages The Making of Jake McTavish is what could be considered a quick read but without leaving the reader feeling as though there is story to be told The characters are well developed and certainly individuals rather than poor caricatures Dave certainly has done his research into the time period and area which is refreshing to see With a degree in History focusing on the cusp of confederation in Canada I was pleased to see much accuracy with the technology and colloquialisms of the day I highly recommend The Making of Jake McTavish by D. The Making of Jake McTavish ebooks online McGowan is an interesting western The setting is perfectly described you can dive in the story and feel as if you re there The characters are engaging and very well developed The plot itself is thrilling I liked it and I recommend it The Making of Jake McTavish I had the pleasure of working with Mr McGowen in his travels as a Commercial Truck Driver where I learned he wrote books based locally in Northern Alberta and British Columbia The Making of Jake McTavish is a story of a man who sets out to find his own quiet piece of the world in Alberta actually a part of the Northwest Territories prior to 1905 Tragedy strikes when Jakes wife is murdered in their home With his wife dead his dog bludgeoned and his home invaded Jake leaves his land and takes to the wilds of the North as a fur trapper Again tragedy strikes Jake when he s robbed and left for dead by two vagrants As luck would have it Jake survives however his faithful companion is killed in the altercation With nothing left of his old life Jake sets out to find out who tried to kill him in the attempted robbery McGowan for anyone even if they don t have a particular interest in Historical Fiction Thank you Dave for being kind enough to provide this book in exchange for an honest review The Making of Jake McTavish
