Tiger Tank Manual By Michael Hayton

Tiger Tank Manual By Michael Hayton Hardcover 0857338188 9780857338181 Tiger Tank Manual It is in standard Haynes hardcover format with some great photos and everything is broken down into bite sized chunks making it accessible to younger readers and makes a great coffee table book. Mine was a second hand gift but the price on the back is 25 which is a bit steep but I imagine if you buy this from the museum gift shop some of that filters back to the museum Michael Hayton As you probably guessed it.

Tiger Tank ManualTiger Tank ManualI have shelves full of tank books so I was a little bit sniffy when I got this obvious novelty book but it really is very good. On top of the usual specifications and battle reports you get information on this tanks history about how it took a 37mm round to the turret ring that you can go and actually see the dent it left if you choose. What is unique here is the sections about what happens to a tank when it is captured the testing and restoration process this book does not tell you how to do repairs on a Tiger But it does a great job on describing the technical solutions the tank has what s it like to maintain one in a museum and does all this in a way that is fairly easy to digest by anybody even remotely interested in tanks Side notes of first hand experiences are great like we switched to anti air high explosive shells because armour piercing shells were going through both sides of a Sherman Michael Hayton

Historical study and what it is like to actually operate the vehicle: These were very interesting and changed some of my preconceptions what colour do you think Tiger Tanks were I was surprised, It really opened my eyes to how much work and consideration goes into restoring a tank like this, I highly recommend this especially if you have the opportunity to see the tank. First off this isn t a book about the Tiger tank it is a book about a Tiger Tank Tiger Tank 131 that is housed in the Boddington Tank Museum to be specific. This is at least in part a promotional publication for the museums key exhibit but that is not a bad thing
