The Assimil method for teaching foreign languages is through the listening of audio cd s and the reading of an accompanying book one side native language one side foreign language This method is focused on learning whole sentences for an organic learning of the grammar It begins with a long passive phase of only reading and listening and eventually adds active exercises Most books contain around 100 lessons with the active phase starting on Lesson 50 The word Assimil comes from assimilation. Several different series are With Ease series which teach basic rules of grammar and a vocabulary of 2000 3000 words Perfectionnement series which teaches advanced idiosyncrasies and idioms of the target language Business series which focuses on vocabulary related to international business Idioms series which teaches common idioms Guide Arabe MarocainGuide to learning Moroccan Arabicwith MP3 Arabic Edition Overall disappointing the audio is just people reading vocabulary lists The accents are nice and natural at least this puts it miles ahead of Assimil s main Arabic course. However there are a host of problems no Arabic script is used and the transliteration isn t any that regular people use like in Arab chat The dialogues aren t recorded that is the first 21 chapters The dialogues are what set Assimil apart, I d give this one star but there s just not many resources for Morrocan Arabic So three stars by default of being in an empty field 9782700505818
