Crimson skies arcade game Interestingly I found myself comparing this book to Soren Kierkegaard s Repetition The content is significantly different but there is a clear similarity between the themes of repetition and recollection About half way through As Skies the main character himself brings up this comparison which made me chuckle Much like Kierkegaard s Constantin Constantius the main character seeks a repetition of experience but typically falls into recollection His desire to escape from his circumstance is foiled by memories of what came before In the case of the main character no better example can be found late in the book when he comments that the Adderall he takes no longer provides him with the high that he seeks In stark contrast his constant love for other people is what breaks him free from his circumstance though he cannot recognize it. As skies became crimsoning Even the fact that the main character remains unnamed throughout the novel is a fascinating act of existentialism By not naming him he is essentially free of a constitution thus allowing him to experience and live This is a delightful touch. As skies became crimson lyrics The one complaint that I have with the story is the gratuitous amount of profanity I have no problem with profanity at all however with over 100 instances of the f word in the first 20 pages of the book it took me away from the important ideas being conveyed At first it was amusing but by the end it was simply too much Getting around the profanity the story itself is a breathtaking examination of existence Though a seemingly simple story Hounchell has handled the complexity of philosophical theory with brilliance English
