1 Meh I m always on the hunt for good MM sci fi alien romance I m sure many people will love this unfortunately for me this one just fell in line with all the other mediocre ones out there Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 Abusive then clich Wow So Quinn is totally ok with knowing that his mate was totally drunk and not in his right mind when he signed his mating contract He even admits that he KNEW Del was totally drunk and he went through with it anyway And then he has the audacity to be mad at Del for trying to escape and PUNISHING him for escaping when he s or less being held prisoner. Light years away chinese song Then Quinn FURTHER endangers Del by claiming he s a pet not his mate This causes Del to be abused by the pet catchers then nearly getting raped by a terrible alien Everything bad that happens to Del in the first half of the book is QUINN S fault but then Del totally takes ALL responsibility for what has happened and accepts punishment He totally loses all his fire and just pretty much says yup it was all my fault punish me but please don t hurt me too much Quinn says This disciplinary session is for taking the space runner endangering your life and running away from your lawful mate In the eyes of the Intergalactic judicial system I am in my right to do whatever I wish for these offences But does DEL have any rights at all He was pretty much hoodwinked into this mating while drunk and since that time he s been treated like shit by everyone Then the punishment is pretty much Quinn beating him relentlessly in the form of a spanking but still a beating while Del cries wails and BEGS and tries to get away all the while Quinn is telling him what amounts to YOU ARE A MINE NOW YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS YOU WILL OBEY ME Not literally but reading between the lines that s what it seems like to me It was not sexy it was abuse Quinn never accepts any responsibility at all for what has happened or for endangering his mate. How many light years away is vega This whole half actually angered me This coming from someone who happily reads slave master novels and enjoys them when they re done right The difference here is that Quinn actually thinks it s ok to do this to a free person who is his mate and Del just pretty much gives up and accepts Another reviewer said he got Stockholm Syndrome and it s true And it wasn t even in a sexy captor becomes loving partner way Del just seems to give up cause he has no choice and Quinn is just happy with it like nothing s wrong with the situation This is not sexy this is abuse Also the other pets that were blatantly being abused terribly in that section there s no mention of them at all later or any outrage once Quinn and Del are reunited It s like the author used terrible suffering as set pieces and dressing. Light years away ncs And then suddenly without real reason Del wants Quinn he d do anything to be with Quinn everything is fine he s not upset that he s been forced into this mating that he was put into danger because of this guy who mated him while he was too drunk to even remember the event he needs Quinn It s like the author just flipped a switch and Del is a completely different person There is no reason for Del s sudden switch and the 2 main characters don t even have chemistry. Light years time travel The book could have been cute but just came in off clumsy and like the author doesn t really understand what consent is Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 It was a very short book First from this author Though the story is not that weird but the random aliens thrown in the way and their description surely is bizarre The pace is rushed which is never good for me And the story begins out of the blue with less word build up The story and characters do have a good potential and an okay framework to build their house but it needs solidification pillars a real good paint It needs work and patience Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 It s silly and I loved it 4. 4 light years away meaning 5 stars Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 I wanted to love this book but sadly while it had potential it never completely worked for me Both MCs had chemistry with side cast and crew members then they did with each other Very much lacking romance just forced proximity and the mating contract The world building was interesting though I m weak for sci fi and exploration of new planets action and missions This did give star trek vibes to start which is perfect for me and I liked Del at first with his not giving in True his headstrong and makes foolish choices but it made sense so his sudden change in the latter half was disappointing. Light years vs time Quinn didn t really grow on me nor did any of the Xolians for the most part with they seemed very stuck up and have a need to being control they re always right and everyone else is stupid Never really listened to anyone but each other when it came to anything important got frustrating and boring very quickly Overall it was fast paced and entertaining enough to keep me reading but it was a chaotic mess of events They have a happy ending for now with the next book in the series continuing their story but I m not invested enough to continue Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 That was such a strange book. Dr brandt light years away whitening essence A mixture of Fifty Shades of Grey meets Captive Prince with aliens and some heavy and rather explicit sex scenes that kind of reminded me of Santino Hassell s books lol But I still umm kind of liked it blushes fiercely Jeez My soul has been corrupted I ll go straight to hell But hey this has an advantage too At least it s warm in there P Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 Delightfully OddWell that was some mighty interesting brain candy I tell you what Silly ridiculous fun is what this was except for that one part where that evil guy did that bad thing and totally grossed me out on top of it I could devour this type of brain candy all day Fabulous bit of escapism On to the next one Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 I did not enjoy this book The characterization was inconsistent I could not connect The MCs personality changed to suit each scene The plot moved too fast and it felt like too much was crammed in I just didn t care Light Years Away Mated to the Captain 1 Ah such a weird kinky and deliciously smexy book This book was screaming Shin and I loved it And soooo damn funny The banters between Del and Quinn are just hilarious The misunderstanding of each other s culture minor language barrier and different concepts on issues and this book also has such interesting and refreshing alien concepts and fantastically different cultures Oooooo really loved it Del is young a bit unexperienced when it comes to relationships and desperate for a job As a hetro flexible type of guy he thought himself to be quite open minded and flexible but that didn t prepare him for waking up in a bed together with another man And not just another man a than seven feet tall humanoid alien whose species are famous for being badass warriors What he asked the previous night at a bar to this guy was to become the first mate of this alien whose name he couldn t remember But his understanding of first mate being the first officer was utterly wrong because being the first mate of a Xolian means they are mated for life Quinn is now confused Last night at a bar this pretty blonde human was all over him and desperately asking to be his first mate He was very fluttered and if he had to be completely honest he wished he didn t in the first place He was captured as a lost pet in a space station sold illegally to a fly nearly devirginized by that fly thankfully it didn t happen and was luckily rescued by captain Quinn in the end He now regrets everything he hastily did and all he wanted was to be in Quinn s arms and be a good little mate but Quinn is now distant to him Will Quinn forgive him and love him again Did I say the banters were hilarious It s so funny and witty and the storyline is very refreshing I really loved it The plot was really unpredictable and I was quite shocked by the revealation of one of the MCs And when they finally had sex that was fireworks And spoiler alert their fellatio technique that was really kinky and sexy I couldn t get enough of this novel and this was a damn cliffhanger So I need to read the book two ASAP All three books in the series are available on KU Favorite excerpts from the novel We are mated for life Del And yes you and I and our witness signed the mating license It s all legal I assure you I m sorry Del Our brains to put it in the simplest way possible are now coded to each other s arousal scent and pheromones It makes a lock on our bodies to ensure we are faithful to each other It s permanent That is why Xolian mates can never be separated for long Two words Quinn Anger management With a snort at his cheekiness I pointed a finger at him One word Del Behave 4.
