It is a non canon What if Pride and Prejudice variation Darcy thought his life comprised of simple tasks help his sister while he brings Wickham to justice enjoy time with his best friends Lord Eastmund Charles Bingley and Colonel Fitzwilliam and attempt to get an intriguing woman named Elizabeth out of his mind When he agrees to help his cousin Anne the journey will lead Darcy into a discovery about himself and his family that will change them all forever Secrets RevealedHave you ever watched a movie and thought that that a scene or two must have been edited out because things don t quite make sense That s what this book is like A lot of scenes cut so a lot of nonsense The most frequent reaction I had while reading this was waitwhat The story is very disjointed Plot points are not followed up on or they are belabored to the point of frustration There are continuity issues too I had to go back and re read many parts as there was some contradictions Very shallow handling of events particularly in the early timeline of the story Also I was never sure how much time had passed between the events of the story Some very clumsy and awkward prose The sentence structure is frequently atrocious Unnecessary commas creating clauses that shouldn t exist missing words and double negatives abound On the positive side I did like the different characterizations of Miss Bingley and Mr Collins Secrets Revealed What a wild ride this book is It s full of soap opera ish twists and surprises I kept hearing that shocking revelation music in my head Dum Dum DUUUUUMMMMM as I read the last half of the story It is completely outside the box when it comes to Pride and Prejudice canon and some characterizations are virtually unrecognizable Mr Collins is actually sensible He s even given some Austen lines that were Elizabeth s in the original Lady Catherine should be cackling AND twirling a handlebar mustache she s so unredeemably evil Caroline has already given up on her quest to net Darcy before the story begins and is happily engaged The Lydia and Wickham storyline evolves quite differently here and is dispatched in the first third of the book Darcy and Elizabeth get together fairly early too Most of the story relates to Ann de Bourgh trying to break away from under the thumb of Lady Catherine who is desperate to bring her back to Rosings and get her married to Darcy As it turns out Lady C along with her evil minion the Lord of Matlock has been messing with lives than just Ann and Darcy and there is a cascade of revelations once the newly married Darcy and Elizabeth travel to Scotland to locate Darcy s uncle in an effort to help Ann. Secrets revealed guide There s way too much going on here to call this a well constructed book but it s a lot of fun to read You certainly won t get bored Secrets Revealed Interesting idea It must have taken a big notebook to track the plot for this one as it had so many reveals Aunt Catherine was true evil Secrets Revealed Secrets RevealedMost would agree that Lady Catherine was not a nice tyrant but in this story she was the devil s wife in the flesh From blackmail kidnapping murder and conspiracies she did it all Of course during many of these atrocities she had her brother s the Earl of Matlock help She really had a reason to blackmail him Anne runs away from Rosings because she s fallen in love with Mr William Collins This Collins is really different He s not the slimy idiot that bows to Lady Catherine rather he fights and argues with every chance he gets Anne heads to Darcy for help and he takes her and Georgiana to Netherfield Caroline was betrothed so readers were given a break from her vitriol against everyone and Darcy wasn t harassed at all Hardly recognized her character since she has almost turn 360 degrees in behavior After swooping down on Longbourn because Collins was visiting his cousins she demands that he brings Anne to her His calm and cool manner convinces her that he doesn t know where she s at Not knowing that Anne was at Netherfield she goes to Darcy House When she finds him and Georgiana gone she goes to her brother s house and demands his help Darcy and Elizabeth marry weeks before the date originally planned to prevent Lady Catherine from pushing a marriage between Anne and Darcy Darcy and Elizabeth travel to Scotland to find Anne s uncle Peter de Bourgh Finding much than her uncle they find her father Lewis de Bourgh who was supposed to be dead from a duel with Matlock per Catherine s orders Darcy becomes upset that her father left her all these years with his hateful aunt Elizabeth has to calm him before he can listen to their story Peter retrieves the letter from Catherine stating that Anne died Well Catherine has woven a tale of horror which now she will play for along with the Earl When Catherine is confronted by her two nephews Anne her husband she s caught in her own web of deceit Great story with a very happy ending The author wrote an intriguing web of deceit that kept hold the reader s attention throughout the entire story. Secrets revealed quest The saving grace to the book is to my knowledge this is the most evil Lady Catherine I ve read about in any variation Now that s a hard to believe statement but it s what I feel Don t miss seeing her at her worst Secrets Revealed
