SOME HISTORY In December of 2003 Dark Horse Comics released a Boba Fett centric issue of Star Wars Tales Issue 18 It featured five stories about Fett at various points in his history but the final comic Revenants by W Haden Blackman is set a few months after Vector Prime Here s where it gets tricky issues 1 20 of Star Wars Tales are usually categorized as infinities or non canon So is Revenants canon or not I guess you can decide PLOT SUMMARY A few months after Vector Prime and the death of Chewbacca Lando and Leia have sent Han off to the other end of the galaxy to investigate things and try to get him out of his depressed state He s near Raxus Prime when Boba Fett shoots him down in Slave One The panels that follow detail Han trying to scavenge supplies on the junkyard world while also facing off against Boba Fett again and again and again He finally confronts the real Fett who thanks Han for weeding out the weak Mandalorian warriors the Mandos have sold their services to the highest bidder the Yuuzhan Vong The comic ends with Han sending a message to Leia that he s heading back home he s going to join the fight against the Vong and if he ll take Fett out if he ever sees him again. Book star wars tales of the empire TIMELINE DISCREPANCIES Can you pick out the timeline issues here Revenants doesn t really fit with what we see of Han after Vector Prime in the Dark Tide duology he was drowning his sorrows in drink and in the Agents of Chaos duology he finally goes off and does something There doesn t seem to be enough time in between the two for Han to be roaming the galaxy in a ship that s not the Millennium Falcon. Star wars tales pdf Likewise when Han meets Fett again in The Unifying Force he hasn t seen him in years he presumably hasn t seen him since the standoff in The Last One Standing see Tales of the Bounty Hunters for details Han makes no signs in Luceno s novel that he s encountered Fett in the meantime but this does seem to tie in with Traviss s Boba Fett A Practical Man The Mandalorians were ostensibly working for the Vong but actually passing information along to New Republic Intelligence Maybe Boba Fett lets Han know what they re doing to preserve their double agent cover MY VERDICT It s a little tricky and I guess that s why Revenants usually gets left out of the New Jedi Order timeline The art is fun I really like the colors and all the different Fetts but Han doesn t look very much like Harrison Ford to me I m not sure if the gray hair is throwing me or if the face is off Still it s a fun short read whether it s truly canon or not.
